We are looking to hire a highly motivated Senior Director, Business Intelligence to direct and oversee GEICO’s Business Intelligence strategies for our Agency strategic goals. In this role, you will lead a high- performance team, collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, develop robust data structures, reports, dashboards and visualizations to support analysis, deliver insights, and drive business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and management:
- Cultivate long-term strategic goals and specific opportunities for BI Developers, review and communicate recommendations to drive critical decisions, prepare and manage department business plans, staffing projections, and budgets.
- Work closely with executives to foster a data-driven culture, and leverage data to improve client service and overall business performance.
- Lead and mentor a team of analysts, data scientists, and other BI professionals.
- Build and develop a high‑caliber analytics team capable of advanced modeling, deep‑dive investigations, and strategic analysis — not traditional dashboard/reporting work.
- Serve as a senior thought partner to Agency leadership, helping shape priorities through data‑driven insights.
Strategy and development:
- Develop and execute a multi-year strategy for Business Intelligence Developer operations to support organizational goals.
- Review and approve testing, deployment and maintenance on data structures, views, reports, and visualizations in coordination with data, product and engineering teams.
- Define and own the analytical strategy that supports Agency growth, retention, quality, and agent performance.
- Prioritize the most impactful analytical opportunities by partnering closely with Product, Marketing, Claims, and Technology.
- Translate ambiguous or emerging business questions into structured analytical roadmaps with clear hypotheses, timelines, and success measures.
- Ensure analytical outputs directly inform operating rhythms, field execution, and senior‑level decision making.
Data governance and architecture:
- Design and develop database architecture solutions to meet the needs of Agency team with a focus on performance and scalability.
- Implement best practices for data governance, data quality, and data integration to ensure the integrity and reliability of our data assets and to meet regulatory compliance requirements.
- Optimize data performance through tuning, indexing, and query optimization techniques.
- Advocate for the data structures, governance, and quality standards required to support advanced analytics across CRM, policy/quote, and operational systems.
- Partner with Technology to ensure Agency‑relevant data is clean, accessible, and structured to support scalable insights and modeling.
- Influence long‑term data maturity by identifying gaps and shaping the roadmap — without personally owning or operating data engineering functions.
Data Insights and Analytics:
- Solve complex business problems. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and business trends.
- Lead the development and maintenance of data models, schemas, and database structures to support various business initiatives, analytics, and strategic problem solving.
- Build analytical frameworks and models that identify leading indicators across fraud/quality, agency life cycle management, incentives, comparative rater performance, sales deployments, retention, etc.
- Conduct deep‑dive analyses that unpack root causes, quantify impact, and recommend clear, actionable solutions.
- Develop early‑signal detection mechanisms and monitoring tools that proactively surface risks or opportunities before they appear in top‑line KPIs.
Stakeholder collaboration:
- Partner with executive leadership and other departments to identify business needs and translate them into data analytics solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them to technical specifications for database design and implementation.
- Collaborate with Tech Teams to ensure availability, reliability, and security of our data systems.
- Work closely with Agency, Product, Marketing, and Field Operations leaders to understand their toughest problems and deliver insights that influence decisions.
- Bridge business context and technical execution by guiding teams toward the right analytical approaches.
- Translate complex analytics into clear narratives that support senior‑level storytelling and operational alignment.
- Establish shared accountability for analytical outcomes by ensuring stakeholders understand, adopt, and act on recommendations.
Technology and innovation:
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in database management and business intelligence and recommend innovative solutions to enhance our data capabilities and maintain a competitive advantage.
- Evaluate emerging technologies (e.g., automation, statistical modeling, advanced forecasting, generative AI) and recommend practical applications within the Agency context.
- Introduce new analytical practices that increase the speed, accuracy, and scalability of insight generation.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS required in Computer Science, Statistics, Analytics, Finance, Operations Research, Economics, Mathematics OR relevant experience in business intelligence, data analytics, and management.
- Experience within the insurance industry is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate and data management software.

Annual Salary
$195,000.00 - $315,000.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
