We are looking for future caregivers to join our Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship program. As an apprentice, you will earn while you learn. You will train and work at one of our Cleveland Clinic locations, receive a full-time salary starting at $15 per hour, healthcare benefits, a mentor, and career skills coaching. At the end of the program, you will be ready to receive your nationally recognized certification. During your Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship, you will:
-Work alongside successful professionals in your field for up to a year (completed program is typically four months).
-Attend our accredited pharmacy technician school at Cleveland Clinic where you will take classes, exams, and gain hands-on pharmacy experience.
-Upon graduation, you will be a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Ohio.
-Take and pass the national certification exam and become a National Certified Pharmacy Technician.
-Receive a $2,500 sign-on bonus when you complete our program and continue employment with Cleveland Clinic as a Pharmacy Technician.
-Be coached on applying, interviewing, and entering into Pharmacy Technician roles at Cleveland Clinic.

Job Details
Thank you for your interest in the Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship. By filling out this application you are expressing interest in learning more about the Cleveland Clinic Pharmacy Apprentice Program. This is a paid Full Time one year commitment that includes paid time off and benefits. The program includes classroom work, on the job training, and materials to help you pass the national certification test. The program currently has openings at our Main Campus Hospital Location.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation – Accurate and timely preparation of medications which may include selection, labeling, repackaging, non-sterile compounding, and sterile compounding.
- Distribution – Accurate and timely delivery of medications to the appropriate storage locations.
- Inventory – Maintains accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies.
- Regulatory compliance – Maintains a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Documents regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities, and training in an accurate and timely manner.
- Communication and teamwork – Communicates with other caregivers and patients in an effective and positive manner. Demonstrates emotional control and intelligence in managing work relationships. Attends and actively participates in team huddles and meetings. Shares responsibility for accomplishment of the team’s tasks and goals.
- Technology – Appropriately uses information systems, technology, and automation to complete assigned tasks.
- Maintain good standing in the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program per the student handbook.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of the Cleveland Clinic School of Pharmacy Technology program within 12 months of hire.
Certifications:
- Upon hire, registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy. Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required within 12 months.
- Must obtain Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within 12 months.
Complexity of Work:
- Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds.
- Proficient in basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, walking, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing, and compounding.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
