Nanyang Technological University initiated the first materials engineering degree programme in Singapore under the Division of Materials Engineering in 1991. With the increasing demand for materials engineers, the division was subsequently elevated into a full-fledged engineering school in 2000.

The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) has undergone substantial transformation over the years. While continuing to equip students with the latest scientific and technological skills sets much needed by the industry, the School has evolved into a hub of excellence in its niche areas of research. As part of NTU’s College of Engineering, MSE is now recognised worldwide as a premier research institution with top universities, multinational corporations and R&D institutions as its research collaborators and funding partners.

The School of Materials Science & Engineering (MSE) invites applications for the position of a Senior Executive in the Students Office. The successful candidate will be responsible in in providing the necessary support in the office of Associate Chair (Students) in a stakeholder facing role to engage alumni, develop innovation and entrepreneurship attributes of students and assist in undergraduate outreach matters.

Key responsibilities:

  • Engage MSE alumni to actively give back to the school and university, expand their network and take up professional development and learning

  • Organise networking events and develop a mentorship programme to connect alumni and current students

  • Develop gift-giving campaigns and events targeted at alumni for donations that will go to the MSE Advancement Fund

  • Oversee the programme for Alumni Homecoming programme for MSE

  • Manage the NTU Convocation and Post-Convocation Ceremony for the MSE graduating class

  • Manage the annual Ian Ferguson Innovation Challenge (IFIC)

  • Manage the applications and disbursement of the Ian Ferguson Innovation Seed Fund (IFISF)

  • Organise workshops and seminars that will develop students’ innovative and entrepreneurial attributes

  • Design, produce and disseminate publicity materials for alumni engagement, student innovation and entrepreneurship activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University

  • Proven track record in various stakeholders’ engagement

  • Knowledge of programme and project development and management

  • Knowledge of event management

  • Minimum of 2 – 3 years of relevant experiences

  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)

  • Familiarity with CRM applications

  • Experience in budgeting and expenditure tracking

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work collaboratively

  • Resourceful and meticulous

  • Demonstrates initiative

  • Able to adapt to diverse audiences

  • Committed to helping students develop their potential
