Skipton Business Finance has an exciting an opportunity for an experienced leader to join us in a newly created role as Head of Securities.

 

This role is central to ensuring a seamless, safe, and efficient endtoend client journey - from onboarding through to ongoing lifecycle management - across our business. You will shape our operational excellence, strengthen risk management, and enhance the overall client experience at SBF.

What Will You Be Doing? 

As Head of Securities, you will lead and continually enhance the endtoend onboarding and operational processes that ensure clients are brought into SBF safely, efficiently, and in line with regulatory and risk standards. 

Key areas of responsibility include: 

 

  • Lead Client Onboarding: Oversee the full onboarding lifecycle, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, robust KYC/AML processes, and acting as the escalation point for complex cases.  

  • Drive Operational Excellence: Own and optimise core processes, strengthen risk and compliance controls, and support readiness for system, product, and procedural changes.  

  • Lead and Develop the Team: Build a high performing, client focused team with clear objectives, strong collaboration, and continuous improvement.  

  • Partner Across the Business: Work closely with Sales, Enterprise Risk, Change, and Operations to deliver a seamless prospect to client journey and maintain strong governance.  

  • Enhance Client Experience: Use MI, QA insights, and feedback to streamline processes, reduce friction, and accelerate speed to funding. 

 

What Do We Need From You? 

To succeed in this role, you will bring: 

  • Extensive experience in onboarding, operations, or client lifecycle management within financial services, with strong understanding of KYC/AML, risk assessment and regulatory compliance.  

  • A proven track record of improving operational processes, driving efficiency and strengthening risk and quality controls.  

  • Strong leadership capability with experience developing high performing teams and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.  

  • Strong underwriting skills with the ability and attitude to deliver solutions for our clients. 

  • Experience working with legal teams and other lenders to negotiate on legal documentation such as inter creditor agreements, corporate security and personal security. 

  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage senior leaders and cross functional partners. 

  • High attention to detail, sound judgement and a structured, methodical approach to problem solving 

  • Knowledge of Invoice Finance Receivables agreements and ABL related security, alongside familiarity with workflow systems, onboarding tools and automation technologies. related security, alongside familiarity with workflow systems, onboarding tools and automation technologies.  

  • Experience working within SME focused lending, receivables finance or change/project environments is advantageous.
