The Emerging Markets team operates across more than 170 countries and plays a critical role in accelerating cross-border trade. With teams across India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Czech Republic, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the UAE, we connect unique global inventory to more than 134 million buyers worldwide.
We are looking for a dynamic Business Development & Category Manager to drive growth across strategic categories within eBay’s cross-border trade business. This role sits at the intersection of business growth, category planning, and seller ecosystem development.
You will own category performance end to end, shape strategic direction, and lead high-impact initiatives that unlock growth. The ideal candidate brings strong commercial competence, analytical rigor, seller-centric thinking, and the ability to build and scale businesses in fast-changing environments.
Identify, evaluate, and onboard high-potential sellers and strategic partners
Develop and implement partnership strategies that accelerate GMV growth
Build and manage long-term relationships with enterprise sellers and key external stakeholders
Analyze market trends, seller behavior, and the competitive landscape to identify new growth opportunities
Own the end-to-end performance and P&L of assigned categories
Define and implement category strategy across assortment, pricing, promotions, and seller mix
Build the category vision and growth roadmap using data, customer insights, and market intelligence
Drive initiatives that improve both customer experience and seller performance
Partner with product, marketing, operations, analytics, and seller success teams to deliver growth initiatives
Collaborate with seller success teams to strengthen seller onboarding, engagement, and retention
Use data to monitor performance, identify gaps, optimize strategy, and deliver measurable business outcomes
8+ years of experience in business development, category management, e-commerce, or marketplace environments
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field, with equivalent experience also considered; MBA preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making
Proven track record of driving growth, building strategy, and executing at scale
Experience managing enterprise sellers, strategic accounts, or marketplace partnerships
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
Understanding of cross-border trade is a plus
Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
