As a Senior Counsel, Supply Chain Quality and Regulatory Compliance, you will have responsibility for supporting the Quality organization with cGMP/quality issues (PIRCs/LICs), recalls, regulatory communications and inspection support and response writing. You may also be requested to support other general supply chain matters, including environmental, health and safety (EHS) and Sustainability initiatives. This role will have primary responsibility for advising on changes in European and UK regulations impacting across GSK’s Supply Chain. This role reports to the Vice President and Assistant General Counsel, Quality, EHS and Sustainability, and will be based in the UK at GSK’s Headquarters in Central London)(UK location preferred; other GSK sites in a European time zone will be considered).
The Supply Chain Legal team primarily provides legal support to GSK’s Global Supply Chain on matters ranging from quality, regulatory, EHS matters, manufacturing site support and third party supply arrangements to business development transactions/network strategy initiatives. Team members also support the resolution of commercial disputes arising in relation to the Global Supply Chain business, in collaboration with lawyers in GSK’s Dispute Resolution and Prevention team.
This role will provide legal support and counsel to GSK’s Global Supply Chain Organization (GSC).
It will provide exposure to a broad range of legal, strategic and commercial issues affecting GSC.
Legal support for the Quality organization related to cGMP/Quality issues (PIRCs/LICs), recalls, regulatory communications, inspection support and response writing
Provide the opportunity for interaction with senior members of the GSC organization and will require close collaboration and interaction with attorneys from other practice groups within GSK’s Legal function.
Counselling on regulatory issues potentially impacting GSK’s internal and external supply chains.
Primary responsibility for advising on changes in European and UK regulations impacting across GSK’s Supply Chain
Liaise with other Legal practice groups and / or GSK Business teams to ensure integration of the full range of legal issues that may arise in a given matter.
Anticipating and proactively supporting the prevention and management of legal risks facing the company arising in the Global Supply Chain organization, including actively advising client groups on risks, such as GSK quality and regulatory compliance and other policy matters.
Engaging and managing the activities of external legal counsel where appropriate.
Providing training to clients and Legal colleagues, supporting knowledge sharing and business process improvement activities and contributing to the development of less experienced attorneys and paralegals within the Supply Chain Legal team.
Participating in business meetings and providing legal advice to project teams responsible for delivering significant initiatives on behalf of the Global Supply Chain organization.
Delivering high quality legal services consistent with business partner guardian principles to enable Global Supply Chain to deliver its objectives.
Qualified Solicitor / Barrister admitted to practice law in England and Wales with a current practicing certificate (or a suitably qualified foreign lawyer willing to qualify in England as required).
Strong legal skills combined with high integrity and sound commercial acumen.
Relevant experience in a major law firm and/or in-house legal function supporting the pharmaceutical industry.
Strong understanding of cGMP/regulatory law and excellent drafting skills.
Familiarity with European regulatory framework applicable to a global pharmaceutical company.
Ability to engage proactively, influence and interact effectively with Legal colleagues, commercial clients and senior management, and to demonstrate the GSK Values, Expectations and business partnering and guardian capabilities.
Ability to work within a matrix structure, collaborating with and supporting GSK Legal colleagues within the Supply Chain Legal team and across different business groups and international markets.
A self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team, managing numerous matters and competing priorities effectively.
Excellent communication skills.
Willingness to undertake domestic and international travel as required (approx. 10-15%)
Relevant in-house experience in a multinational pharmaceutical company.
Experience advising on cGMP/quality matters in the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience advising on, drafting and negotiating manufacturing and supply agreements, quality agreements and/or service agreements in a regulated industry.
Knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory requirements applicable to the pharmaceutical industry, including in relation to quality / GMP, environmental, health and safety and competition law.
