  • Introduction:

    The primary responsibilities of the Director of Practice Transitions (DPT) are to project manage by leading all aspects of the transition process for practices, providers and staff becoming affiliated with MMG and for those practices and providers terminating affiliation with MMG. The DPT oversees all tasks of projects including large, complex, high-profile acquisitions, new provider clinic start-up projects and divesting providers and clinics.  Expectations of this role includes practice management consulting with emphasis on medical practices opening or in transition which are important to the MMG market and requires processing complex information from a variety of sources to provide medical practice assessments, evaluation of practice financial data and practice culture recommending plans of action. The DPT must establish and maintain relationships with MMG and Methodist Health System (MHS) Executive Staff, System Leadership, Development, Recruitment, Physicians, Physician Extenders, Legal Counsel, Corporate Departments, Hospital Executive Management, and Physician Practice Management. DPTs are responsible for a large geographic area consisting of the MMG and MHS market areas. The DPT is expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The DPT reports to the MMG VP-Business Development and works closely with all MMG Executives.

  • Manages the large task list with transition process to include Service Departments and operations by taking ownership of the project agenda and overall communication of the project while holding associated departments accountable for their assigned responsibilities during the transition.
  • Interacts with all Service Departments including but not limited to Legal, Information Technology Services, Provider Enrollment, Human Resources, Accounting, Accounts Payable, Security, System Training, Billing and Collections Team(s), Purchasing and Treasury on a regular basis to resolve outstanding items necessary for a smooth transition with transition timeline.
  • The DPT sets project related deadlines, assigns responsibilities, monitors and tracks status of all start up or termination steps, and summarizes progress of the project for MMG and MHS Leadership.
  • Relies on experience to plan and accomplish goals by working closely with MMG and MHS operations and service center Senior Management to complete the project transition process.
  • Must be familiar with Healthcare concepts, practices and procedures as it relates to providers and healthcare clinics.
  • The DPT has budgetary responsibility to effectively and efficiently on-board practices and physicians. Applicant must be prepared to negotiate diplomatically and effectively in various business environments to manage expectations related to the projects.
  • Candidate must evaluate data and recommend action plans translating “Vision into Action” using verbal and written project updates for the MMG Leadership team.
  • Maintain attention to detail in documenting the entire project transition process.
  • The DPT communicates regularly with MMG Operation’s Management, Hospital and MHS System Leadership, to resolve obstacles with timeline for project transitioning requiring coordination and resolution.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Practices, Physicians and the Service Departments.
  • Assumes the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the on-boarding/off-boarding activities.
  • May assist in the recruitment and selection of competent managers, consultants and other personnel.
  • The DPT is a leader representing MMG by creating a positive and collegial atmosphere for providers and staff associated with the related project during the transition. The DPT will be required to assess the existing culture of the acquired practices and give recommendations to MMG Senior Leadership when requested. This position requires a professional communication style to communicate with both parties.
  • The DPT reviews and is knowledgeable regarding local, state and national regulations, and is able to make recommendations to assure continued compliance with current regulations.
  • Uses vast knowledge, experience and leadership to bring attention to any potential ethics and compliance issues particularly related to the acquisition process.

Qualifications:

  • EDUCATION – Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Healthcare or Business Administration or equivalent work experience in a related field. A certification in Project Management is a plus.
  • EXPERIENCE – Must have five or more years of medical practice management experience. Additional experience in project management and practice management consulting is preferred. Effective working knowledge of healthcare financial management, specifically medical practice accounting, third party reimbursement issues, patient flow and facilities management.
