Job Summary:
To manage and administer Ancillary Services supporting the Operating Rooms Supply Management Systems to support the provision of Peri-Operative Services. To manage the OR Central Supply Program and staff in all assigned operating rooms and special areas.
Education & Experience
High School diploma/GED plus five (5) years of related experience, two (2) of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Experience in the management of supplies in an Operating Room or Surgical Suite is preferred.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: N/A
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control. Knowledge of ASEPSIS techniques. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills to interact with subordinates, staff, and management. Ability to train and supervise employees.
Responsibilities
- Oversees and provides daily management of the supply chain inventory operations in the operating rooms at UMMC including the supply distribution and replenishment, case cart preparation activity, managing special orders for the operating rooms, receiving and delivery of the special orders, inventory management, and the coordinated supply support system in the Peri-Operative areas.
- Oversees the supervision of personnel which includes work allocation, scheduling, training, and problem resolution.
- Develops systems to ensure proper and economical use and/or maintenance of equipment, supplies, and facilities.
- Determines and maintains the appropriate levels of supplies and equipment.
- Inventories and inspects equipment and supplies; maintains applicable files and records. Maintains database of equipment and/or supply inventory. Delivers and retrieves equipment and/or supplies throughout the facility.
- Assists in providing training and coaching of subordinate staff insuring competency in their job functions and safety.
- Maintains area of responsibility and personnel in compliance with the requirements of the joint commission and other regulatory agencies.
- Purchases, receives, stocks, and dispenses material; tracks equipment and/or supplies usage throughout the facility; assists in cost control measures.
- Assures adherence to applicable regulations and policies pertaining to processing, preparation, sterilization, decontamination and distribution.
- Participates in departmental safety meetings and medical testing for safety and health compliance.
