What You’ll Do 

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of engineers responsible for core AI enablement capabilities, including reusable APIs, orchestration patterns, evaluation systems, and production guardrails. 

• Coach and support a highly senior engineering team, including Lead and Principal AI Engineers, while building a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous learning. 

• Define the strategy, roadmap, and performance expectations for the AI Enablement Platform in alignment with broader engineering and business priorities. 

• Treat the platform as a product by prioritizing usability, adoption, documentation, and developer experience for internal engineering teams. 

• Oversee the delivery of reusable platform capabilities that help teams build AI-powered features with greater speed, consistency, and operational quality. 

• Drive adoption across the engineering organization by identifying friction points, improving the internal developer experience, and ensuring the platform becomes the preferred path for AI development. 

• Partner closely with senior technical leaders, SRE, Product, and application teams to align platform investments with infrastructure needs, product opportunities, and operational realities. 

• Establish and reinforce shared standards for how AI systems are built, tested, monitored, and operated in production. 

• Create strong operating rhythms, delivery metrics, and prioritization practices that improve execution, transparency, and cross-functional coordination. 

• Balance long-term platform health with near-term delivery needs, ensuring the team delivers scalable capabilities without becoming a one-off service layer for individual requests. 

 

What You’ll Need 

• Typically 10+ years of engineering experience, including strong experience in backend, platform, or distributed systems environments. 

• 2+ years of people leadership experience, with a track record of leading engineering teams and developing talent across multiple levels of seniority. 

• Experience leading platform, backend, or internal tooling teams that deliver reusable capabilities at scale. 

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, service architecture, APIs, platform reliability, and operational excellence. 

• Demonstrated ability to define strategy and execution plans for a technical domain while aligning to organizational goals. 

• Experience partnering with senior engineers and technical leaders to shape architecture, platform direction, and engineering standards. 

• Strong product and developer-experience mindset, with the ability to understand internal customer needs and translate them into effective platform investments. 

• Strong cross-functional leadership skills, including the ability to influence Product, SRE, Platform, and engineering stakeholders across multiple teams. 

• Strong execution discipline, including roadmap management, prioritization, delivery measurement, and balancing short-term and long-term needs.

And It’s Great to Have 

• Experience building or leading internal developer platforms, SDKs, or engineering enablement capabilities. 

• Experience with AI or LLM-enabled systems, including evaluation frameworks, observability tooling, or production controls. 

• Familiarity with platform adoption challenges in organizations moving from experimentation to production-grade AI. 

• Experience improving developer workflows, time-to-value, and platform usability for internal engineering teams. 

• Experience supporting globally distributed engineering organizations or large-scale cross-team platform adoption.

• The platform provides reusable, reliable, and well-documented services that reduce duplicated effort across teams.

• AI-powered features across ABC follow stronger, more consistent standards for quality, observability, safety, and cost awareness.
