About this Role:

As a D2L Solutions Engineer, you’ll spend every day helping those around you get the most out of D2L products and services. This role supports D2L's Corporate Sales team, including D2L for Government, D2L for Business, D2L for Associations, and D2L for Training Organizations. Supporting your Account Executives, your job is to dive in and understand our prospect's business and their needs, identify how D2L's tools and products can be used to make their lives easier and their workflows smarter, and propose an appropriate solution. Your goal is to gain new customers which cannot be achieved without your in-depth product knowledge, communication and presentation skills. You will work cross-functionally to support large Requests for Proposal (RFPs) - identifying gaps and opportunities. As a Solutions Engineer, you’re excited to speak to everyone from corporate learners and instructional designers, to a CIO or CEO, and your demos and presentations provoke gasps of amazement, if not outright applause.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Support the sales process by becoming an expert in the Brightspace platform, including functionality, usage, architecture, and deployment.
    • You won’t just need theoretical knowledge of how things work, but you will be expected to try things out and make sure they work in practice. You will need to get creative and sometimes approach and re-approach a solution until you find the right fit.
  • Build compelling, value-oriented presentations while partnering with your sales team to prepare for such presentations.
  • Present persuasive and expertly tailored product demonstrations before a wide variety of audiences and under challenging circumstances. Audiences could be new or seasoned users, executives at a conference table or learners piled into stadium seating. Needs could be vague or extremely unique, and timelines to prepare can vary.
  • Read through incoming Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for your Account Executives to review client requirements, address gaps, assess competitive alignment, and identify the optimal product mix of what products and services are required. You will work closely with our Inside Solution Engineers and RFP Proposal Managers to write clear, accurate and succinct answers for RFP responses on deadlines.
  • Conduct needs analysis sessions with prospects to understand their infrastructure, needs and potential customizations they may require.
  • Provide feedback to product management teams regarding use cases and trends in the field.
  • Create technical documentation and materials as required for your prospects.
  • Be the conduit through which internal subject matter experts are contacted and engaged into sales opportunities.
  • Attend sales presentations, meetings, and conferences as required (travel ~50%)

What You'll Bring to the Role:

  • 3+ years' experience in pre-sales, solutions engineering or equivalent role
    • Experience in a pre-sales capacity with a focus on US-government institutions is a strong asset
  • Knowledge and experience with learning management systems
    • Deep knowledge of Brightspace LMS as an Admin or Super User is a strong asset
  • Technical understanding of enterprise software, web, and database technology
  • Understanding of the technology ecosystem that surrounds an LMS and the types of responsibilities and concerns users have that run those systems
  • Previous experience in the Learning Technology or HCM space is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex business challenges and apply creativity and problem-solving to meet client needs
  • Very comfortable with presenting complex education and technology concepts to a variety of stakeholders
  • Be highly engaging in person and virtually.
  • Must have excellent writing and comprehension skills
  • Experience writing RFP responses is an asset
  • Ability to work with a distributed team and travel extensively (up to 50%)
  • Experience meeting multiple objectives in an entrepreneurial environment with minimal supervision
