ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Manager, Data Operations within Apex Tax and Cost Basis, you are responsible for leading and mentoring a team of data analysts. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: solving complex data analytics problems, documenting processes and procedures, data quality, automation of manual tasks, and overseeing the daily tasks and performance within the team.   

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Evaluating data flows for improvement, development and implementing solutions.

  • Ensuring solutions meet business needs and requirements.

  • Communicate results and trends to management with recommendations for change.

  • Build, maintain, and improve reporting to measure and track performance and understand desired customer behavior and use of the data output.

  • Performing software and data quality testing (Understanding the full end to end process and desired outcome).

  • Updating, implementing, and maintaining written procedures.

  • Develop and maintain data visualizations that help business leaders make decisions.

  • Collaborate cross functionally with Tax and CB Operations, Product and Development teams.

  • Managing resources and priorities for the team to ensure successful and timely outcomes.

  • Monitoring deliverables and ensuring timely completion of teams’ tasks and projects.

  • Developing automated solutions to streamline the end-to-end process from input data to tax form outputs reducing manual intervention.

  • Monitor and Track team’s workload and goals.

  • Foster teamwork and recognition within the team.

  • Utilization of AI to automate manual tasks across Tax and Cost Basis Operations

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (or equivalent work experience) required

  • 5+ years prior experience in data analysis, business intelligence, data science, and intelligent automation

  • 2+ years of people management experience preferred

  • Experience with reporting, dashboards, visualization tools, and analytical/modeling software (SQL, ETL, APIs a plus)

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Proven ability to communicate complex, technical concepts to broad based stakeholder audience

  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills

  • Advanced SQL skills

  • Understanding and familiar with artificial intelligence LLMs (e.g. GPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.)

  • Exceptional analytical skills

  • Detail oriented problem solver with a strategic mindset

  • Ability to adapt on the fly in a rapidly changing environment

  • Continuous improvement mindset, an outside the box thinker

  • Understanding of financial services industry – particularly cost basis and tax reporting

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a hybrid, office environment 3 days per week.
