Position Summary
The Education & Diversity Coordinator will play a pivotal role in coordinating educational and diversity programs within the NSF-funded CURB Engineering Research Center (ERC). This position prefers a PhD in Engineering or Education, with expertise in biomanufacturing or a closely related field. The Coordinator will be responsible for developing, facilitating, and delivering educational programs, including stackable microcredentials, while ensuring all initiatives are equity-centered. This role involves collaborating with industry partners, academic institutions, and internal teams to advance the CURB mission of workforce development and inclusivity in electro-biomanufacturing.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Program Development & Delivery
- Lead the Course Development Working Group and the creation of education programs focused on electro-biomanufacturing.
- Collaborate with faculty to design interdisciplinary courses that incorporate emerging trends in biomanufacturing and electro-biomanufacturing.
- Develop training modules, hands-on workshops, and boot camps that align with industry demands and prepare students for careers in electro-biomanufacturing.
- Facilitate industry involvement in course delivery and professional development for students.
- Manage partnerships with existing dual degree programs or articulation agreements to offer seamless education pathways.
- Program coordination of the Trainee Pilot Award programs.
- Lead the Pathways to Faculty Program to promote diversity in faculty hiring.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiatives
- Design and manage equity-centered programs aimed at recruiting and retaining students from minoritized backgrounds.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement inclusive practices and foster a supportive environment, including EDI/Mindfulness Training Programs.
- Help build partnerships with Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) to establish a diverse talent pipeline for CURB.
- Ensure the equity-centered CURB Mentoring Framework is applied to support students and faculty.
- Program coordination of team science building and training program to promote cross-disciplinary collaboration within CURB.
Partnerships & Collaboration
- Coordinate Engineering Workforce Development (EWD) and Diversity &Culture of Inclusion (DCI) effort across sites.
- Serve as a liaison with the St. Louis Confluence Collaborative and lead collaborations with frontline communities.
- Liaise with Curriculum Delivery Partners including WashU's Teaching and Learning Center, Sever Institute, UD’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies/Online, TAMU's Engineering Experiment Station (TEES)/Distance Education, National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM) at TAMU, and the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL) at UD.
- Lead collaboration with BioSTL.
Program Management & Coordination
- Program coordination of the annual Convergence Bootcamp, High School Summer Scholars program, REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) program and RET (Research Experiences for Teachers) program.
- Liaise with the center’s evaluator analyze EWD and DCI program metrics to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Communication, Outreach & Reporting
- Regularly report on the progress of educational and equity-centered initiatives, ensuring alignment with CURB’s mission and strategic goals.
- Develop marketing and communication materials to increase the visibility of programs and boost participation within CURB from minoritized researchers and trainees.
Perform other duties as assigned.

- BS in Chemical Engineering, Synthetic Biology, Bioprocessing, Biochemical Engineering, Biomolecular Engineering, Bioengineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience in developing and delivering educational programs: Preferably in biomanufacturing, engineering education, or related technical fields such as synthetic biology, biochemical engineering, or electro-biomanufacturing.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and culture of inclusion: Proven experience working with diverse student populations, creating equity-centered educational initiative, and/or managing initiatives that enhance recruitment, retention, and support for minoritized groups.
- Proven ability in program coordination and collaboration: Experienced in developing, implementing, and managing educational and diversity programs across technical fields. Skilled in aligning program goals with industry and academic needs while coordinating interdisciplinary collaborations with stakeholders from industry, academia, and community organizations across multiple sites.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Inclusive teaching practices: Expertise in designing and implementing educational programs with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
- Equity-centered perspective: Ability to apply a critical lens to ensure DEI in all educational and professional initiatives.
- Pedagogical development skills: Experience in course and curriculum design, especially within interdisciplinary and emerging technical fields such as electro-biomanufacturing.
- Change management: Skilled in driving organizational changes that promote inclusivity and collaboration.
- Coalition-building and cross-sector engagement: Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including industry partners, academic institutions, and frontline communities.

Salary Range
$58,400.00 - $99,700.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
