Job Summary
McKesson has an opening for a Lead Product Applications Engineer.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise for the development and deployment of customizations to the practice management system for The US Oncology Network.
Aid in the deployment of vendor-provided enhancements to the practice management system for The US Oncology Network, with a focus on interoperability.
Acts as an escalation and subject matter expert in project execution and critical issue resolution where needed.
Collaborates with business stakeholders to optimize business operations in the practice management application. Aligns customer requirements with the application development roadmap as needed in a consultative role.
Acts as subject matter expert in interoperability, data mapping and conversion, data management, and data transformation in a consultative role.
Makes presentations on technical and/or other aspects of products; may make customer-facing presentations.
Assists customer engineering staff in personal, electronic, and/or documented interface during program development.
May provide follow-up support in disseminating content or technical information on specific customizations in applications or solutions.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may direct the work of others without formal management responsibilities; may utilize internal or external resources to accomplish goals, including third party vendors and IT resources.
Work to build, oversee testing, and implement changes, including enhancements and complex break fixes. Evaluate the impact of all changes against the existing features, functionality, and connected systems.
May require some availability after normal business hours for complex and unique emergency troubleshooting and the implementation of critical, emergent off-hours changes.
Minimum Requirements & Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent discipline or 10+ years of equivalent work experience required.
Critical Skills
10+ years’ experience in athenaIDX architecture, administration, and maintenance best practices.
10+ years’ experience in troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization in athenaIDX preferred.
7+ years’ experience in integration of various systems and components within athenaIDX preferred.
5+ years’ experience in testing and quality assurance practices and change management preferred.
5+ years’ experience with interoperability such as JSON, XML, HL7, and EDI preferred.
Additional Skills & Key Traits
Technical Expertise: Strong technical knowledge and experience in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, is essential. This includes a deep understanding of athenaIDX, as well as the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Break fix resolution and project execution will often involve multiple stakeholders, including business analysts, IT teams, customers, and vendors. This team member must be able to work in a team environment, fostering collaboration, and coordination to ensure the successful implementation and ongoing support of athenaIDX as it grows and evolves.
Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial. Requires thorough and timely documentation in support tickets, project tickets, and change requests. Requires clear and meaningful communication to customers, vendors, and colleagues. Requires effective follow up on communication where required by company mandated service level agreements.
Adaptability: The revenue cycle landscape is fluid with new standards, regulations, and improved technologies. The engineer must be adaptable and willing to learn and master new tools, protocols in collaboration with our practice management system vendor.
Customer-Facing Experience: Experience in working directly with customers is highly valued. This could include roles such as technical support, customer service, or sales engineering, where you have interacted with customers, understood their needs, and provided technical solutions or assistance.
Application Engineering Experience: Previous experience in a similar product application engineering role is beneficial. This includes experience in analyzing customer requirements, customizing products to meet specific application needs, conducting testing and validation, and providing technical support.
Time & Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines is important. Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing expectations, and ensuring successful project execution is highly valued.
Working Conditions
Remote work environment.
Able to travel domestically 5% of the time.
