Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is the core part of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively manage designated networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that provides an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. C2BMC acts as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to enhance performance. Additionally, C2BMC is an essential part of all system ground and flight tests, which verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of the missile defense system.
The Systems Engineer must have expertise and leadership to ensure a disciplined system engineering approach to defining, developing, and analyzing system capabilities. Based on understanding the design and results of comparisons, use relevant systems engineering tools and documents to explore, understand, and propose changes to systems engineering analysis, user CONOPS, system operational concepts, and system and interface requirements specifications in support of C2BMC. Work towards future BMDS capabilities, including sensor management, tasking, cueing, and discrimination architectures. This role involves coordinating engineering disciplines to resolve system-level issues and problems. Participate in developing, executing, and analyzing the results of various software tests in a lab environment as needed. Learn, understand, and represent the perspectives of warfighters, operators, and system owners, ensuring those perspectives are respected throughout engineering efforts.
