Description

Reusable systems with frequent launch cadence are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space.  Highly operable, reliable, and robust ground systems are an integral part of a fully reusable launch system.  As a technician supervisor for our dedicated launch complex at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, you will be responsible for developing and commissioning a new launch pad from scratch. 

Our unique design, build, & operations approach require individuals to be well versed in a variety of construction and manufacturing processes.  Drawing on your prior experience, you will collaborate with engineers and work independently to build, assemble, commission, operate ground support systems, and launch site vehicle integration systems.  You will use your resourcefulness and communication skills to identify and solve issues real-time.  In this role, you will also be responsible for establishing and leading an efficient technician workforce, setting up fabrication and assembly areas, tooling, and managing local inventory.  You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, hire, and lead launch technician team members of various disciplines
  • Develop and oversee project and task plans on a weekly, daily, and hourly basis, including technician resource allocation
  • Build, assemble, and operate launch ground support equipment
  • Perform precision assembly and integration of flight hardware based on written and verbal instructions
  • Assemble complex hardware following work orders, technical drawings, sketches, CAD models, and verbal guidance
  • Plan resources, organize inventory kits, identify shortages, and order common stock items and tools & equipment as needed
  • Perform precision measurement and cleaning of hardware components
  • Maintain work area functionality, including layout optimization, routine upkeep, and cleanliness
  • Identify discrepancies, draft nonconformance reports, collaborate with engineering for resolutions, and document corrective actions in detail
  • Execute component builds or assemblies as per work orders and accurately document build processes for new and repeatable assembly sequences

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical or construction environments working at a journeyman level
  • Senior launch site technician experience or journeyman experience as a boilermaker, machinist, ironworker, electrician, or industrial pipefitter 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building, assembling, testing, and operating process piping, mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical systems
  • Hands-on experience with assembling and operating oxygen, cryogenic, and FOD-intolerant service components and systems
  • Proven ability to safely operate hazardous systems, including high-energy, pressure, temperature, and high-power systems
  • Proficiency in lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot work permits, confined space permits, rigging, & lifting
  • Skilled in handling delicate and high-value assemblies
  • Experience in operating heavy equipment including reach-lifts and aerial lifts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to perform at a high level with minimal direction
  • Ability to work second shift and weekends as required
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted
  • Able to stand for extended periods
  • Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to obtain & maintain military installation access including DBIDS
  • Willing relocate to Cape Canaveral, FL

Compensation

Target Levels:

  • Level 3 range: $38 - $57/hour
  • Level 4 range: $47 - $70/hour
