Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. We are seeking a dynamic Test Cell Operator, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the performance and reliability of our assembled diesel engines! As a Test Cell Operator, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive tests on engine assemblies, identifying any potential issues and verifying peak performance. What you will do:
Troubleshoot and repair diesel engine blocks, ensuring engines are free of defects and operate efficiently
Conduct special engineering tests and customer witness tests, maintaining a high standard of accuracy and reliability
Perform harnessing, testing, and post-test assembly of diesel engines, following established work instructions and production goals
Accurately document work performed, including inspection, installation, maintenance, and repairs of diesel engines within the test stand
Collaborate with project teams to complete assigned testing in a timely and efficient manner
Proactively identify and resolve mechanical or control issues during the testing process
Install and remove engine parts as needed, ensuring compliance with quality control protocols
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to safety regulations and promoting best practices throughout the facility
Submit and assist with Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives
Communicate with supervisors and managers about processes within the assigned area
Perform other duties as assigned to support overall production goals
What you will have:
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a machining or manufacturing environment or experience testing engines’ functionalities or industry certification/degree
Knowledge of engine operation and emission controls equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude
Experience with electronic standard work or standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Comfort working in cross-functional teams and contributing to problem-solving
What would make you a top candidate:
Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Prior experience assembling and/or testing diesel engines
OSHA Certification(s)
Familiarity with Caterpillar’s safety standards and continuous improvement programs
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to perform repetitive operations
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Additional Information:
$22.00/hour starting payrate; 2nd Shift will receive a shift premium of 10%
2nd Shift: Monday - Thursday, 4:42pm-3:12am. Overtime as required.
