Join the Agropur Burnaby team as a General Relief Machine Operator. We offer a starting wage of $28.88 per hour, as well as evening and night premiums and the opportunity to contribute to a home-grown cooperative!

What’s involved in the Machine Operator role:

This position of General Relief will assist the facility in day to day operations:

• Working varied shifts

• Running different machines involved in milk production

• Take inventory on request

• Perform any other tasks related to this position

• Machine setup

• Coordinating production run with packaging and ingredients

• Hand packing production

• Build / stack production

• Cleanup and changeovers

• Machine operation

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Machine Operator
• Able to work in a confined area as a team player both with and without direct supervision
• Self-directed and enthusiastic
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe workplace
• Ensure that all products packaged are dated and labelled correctly while maintaining target fill weights, packaged into proper containers with proper caps,
• Must be able to record and maintain all documentation
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Proven ability to follow and maintain 5S housekeeping guidelines/practices in the production area
• Participate in continuous improvement and loss reduction initiatives
• Organized and reliable
• Mechanical aptitude
• Physically fit with a good attendance and personal safety record
• Able to communicate clearly with supervisors, co-workers, customers, and others
• Ability to perform any other duties as required under the direction of Management and Foreman/ Assistant Foreman

Candidates must be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts (days, afternoons, night shift).

Work schedule could be 5 x 8 hour shifts OR 4 x 10 hour shifts per week at our 24/7 facility. You need to be available to work a combination of days, nights, and graveyard shifts and schedules will vary week to week.

What you need to join our team:

Applicants must be willing and able to work all shifts at our 24/7 facility.

• High school graduate or equivalent

• Ability to read, write and do basic math

• Availability to work all shifts (day, afternoon, graveyard)

• Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends and nights

• Ability to follow standard operational procedures and work in a safe manner

• Physically fit with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs

• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

• Strong customer service orientation

• Previous work experience in food production is not required but is considered an asset.

Qualifications:

• Dairy Worker License considered an asset

• A good personal attendance record

• A good personal safety record

• Proven problem solving and decision-making skills

• Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and as a team member

• Ability to multitask and to coordinate his efforts with the other pasteurizers

• Must have good written and oral communication skills

• Previous experience maintaining production, quality and safety documentation

• Proven ability of effectively using down time for servicing of production equipment

• Mechanical aptitude

• Proven ability to maintain a safe and clean workplace

• Self-directed and enthusiastic work attitude

• Perform all other tasks as assigned by management
