Reports to: Portfolio Manager

Role purpose:

The Portfolio Analyst will be responsible supporting the Portfolio function in its mission to establish, maintain and ensure a high performing Product & Technology Portfolio within Flutter UKI. The role will be focused on Portfolio data collection, analysis and synthesis to enable well informed, timely discussions and decision making. They will create regular Portfolio level reporting and support insights generation. The role will support preparation for governance forums through providing Portfolio inputs and creating executive packs.

The Portfolio Analyst will support the Portfolio Manager in setting up and running core Portfolio/PMO processes and best practice, implementing tools and risk management. They will maintain a single source of truth for key artefacts and project health data for the portfolio in the delivery tools.

The Portfolio Analyst will work closely through collaboration and communication with a variety of roles across Delivery, Technology and Product. These will be split across multiple teams, disciplines and locations. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with structured thinking, attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills.

Accountabilities:                                                                                                                     

  • Collect project and programme data from all strategic initiatives across the division, ensuring that it is comprehensive, accurate and up to date
  • Synthesise and consolidate this data and roll up to Portfolio level eg portfolio level risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, assumptions and actions
  • Review data quality, ensuring that the information is accurate and consistent across strategic initiatives in the Portfolio
  • Create Portfolio level reporting (eg.Portfolio health reports) in order to provide transparency and facilitate well informed, timely discussions and decision making
  • Crate regular project analysis and portfolio reporting, pulling metric-based reports from any PPM/delivery software or tools in use
  • Support the generation of insights related to progress against strategic objectives as part of the portfolio management activity.
  • Work closely with delivery roles across the business to assess the demand, supply and capacity of resources, supporting resource reallocation discussions as needed.
  • Support best practice and standardisation ensuring that projects across the portfolio adhere to the best practices and standard approaches and governance reviews are conducted
  • Support the Portfolio Manager to continually improve reporting processes and artefacts that align in-scope projects to business strategies.
  • Maintain a single source of truth for milestones, artefacts and project health data for the portfolio in the PPM/delivery tools.
  • Support governance forums by preparing and distributing agendas, minutes and actions, following up action updates and tracking to closure
  • Own the creation and management of shared working spaces for the team, like SharePoint, OneDrive, Confluence.

Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of project management methods, principles and methodologies (inc Agile).
  • Experience of analysing project plans, dependency management, baseline management and resource usage across a large portfolio.
  • Strong analytical skills to analyse complex data sets and create meaningful insights
  • Meticulous attention to detail while managing and processing large data sets
  • Proficiency in using project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Jira knowledge is desirable.
  • Sound interpersonal skills to interact and build relationships with multiple stakeholders at all levels
  • Exceptional written communication skills to create custom reporting, with messages that are easily understood by very different stakeholder groups
  • Approachability, open mindedness and an ability to work well with people at all levels of the business
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage multiple activities at a time
  • Confident and strong character with the ability to ensure that plans are kept to, and expectations are well managed

Scope/Sclae of the role:

  • The Portfolio Team is a new team in UKI Product and Tech, working in the office of the CTO.  The scale of the Technology function that this team is responsible for owning and assuring the portfolio delivery of is large (c200 squads/tech teams, 2000 colleagues).  The strategic initiatives under portfolio scope are those that are most important to the success of the UKI Region’s Strategy
