Full-time fixed-term position for up to 6 months
Base salary will be in the range $104,616 - $113,920 + 17% super
Based at our St Lucia Campus
The University of Queensland is seeking a UX Designer to support business-as-usual UX design activities within the Marketing and Communication team.
This role is a fixed-term backfill, supporting continuity of UX delivery while the current designer is seconded to an internal project. The role supports core UX activities across UQ’s digital platforms, ensuring user-centred design remains embedded in day-to-day delivery.
Working closely with digital specialists and internal stakeholders, you will contribute to improving usability, accessibility, and consistency across UQ’s websites and digital experiences.
Key responsibilities will include:
Design user journeys, flows, wireframes, and prototypes for digital initiatives
Support or conduct user research and usability testing
Collaborate with UI designers, content designers, and developers
Translate business needs into clear, user-focused design solutions
Apply UX best practice across business-as-usual digital work

You are a practical and confident UX designer who enjoys working in a delivery-focused environment.
You will bring:
Demonstrated UX design experience with a portfolio showing end-to-end UX work
Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders and digital teams
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency in tools such as Figma, Miro, User Testing, or similar
Experience in UI design is desirable but not essential.
