The Launch Vehicles (LV) Sentinel Program Promontory Associate/Mechanical I&T Engineer (Level 1 or 2) will assist in the execution of all phases of mechanical I&T engineering objectives from inception through delivery. This role is responsible for implementing mechanical I&T engineering statement of work requirements and accounting for cost and schedule objectives. This role will develop, test, and troubleshoot a variety of mechanical operations on the missile assembly, ground support equipment, and other interfaces. This role will work closely with design to implement design for manufacturability, conduct performance tests, and verify design requirements in the build.
Due to the sensitive nature of our work, this is a fully on-site position in Promontory, Utah; hybrid or remote work is not available.
Job Summary:
Candidate shall possess a general mechanical engineering background and have a basic understanding of system-level manufacturing concepts as they apply to integration of complex systems. Duties will require daily contact with booster hardware, solid rocket motors, and ground support equipment. Candidate will be responsible for assisting senior staff in the final system-level integration and test of air launched and static test vehicles. Under guidance of senior staff, specific duties may include: contribute to the development of detailed work instructions, processes and procedures directing the assembly and test of launch vehicle systems; read and interpret complex engineering drawings and translate requirements into work instructions; coordinate integration activities and schedules with operations supervisors, program engineers and various customer organizations; document hardware defects and test anomalies, and develop and implement robust and effective corrective actions; identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and participate in implementation; support delivery operations, as required. Ability to write in clear technical terms, good interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate with engineers from various backgrounds, and knowledge of standard PC application software are required. Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic system design is a plus. Occasional business travel may be required (< 20%).
Key Responsibilities:
Support authoring, review, and publication of work instructions for detailed assembly integration work
Support initial engineering stand-up of activities and transition into production operations and future sustainment
Support plans and schedules for Launch Vehicles activities in Promontory, Utah
Support the requirements, milestones, and organizational infrastructure to sustain and deliver on the contractual obligations
Support the development of engineering Statement of Work, schedule, and quality processes and procedures
Maintain close coordination with Engineering Manager on engineering activities and milestones
Participates in daily escalation and tiered meeting structures
Support the engineering requirements definition for the new Booster Integration Facility and storage bunkers, along with required support equipment when the program transitions to full rate production, and support the facility construction through to completion to meet program schedule
Establish production concept of operations (CONOPS) for full rate production and guide the inclusion of automation into the production line
Occasional business travel may be required (< 20%)
This position may be filled as a Mechanical I&T Engineer at a Level 1 or a Level 2.
Basic Education/Experience:
Associate Mechanical I&T Engineer (Level 1) - Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 0 years of experience
Mechanical I&T Engineer (Level 2) Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM discipline an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience

Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret Security Clearance, which generally requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite. Personnel without an active DoD Secret Security Clearance are required to initiate a Security Clearance Investigation within 14 days of acceptance of job offer.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government BATFE Employee Possessor License
