Job Summary

Coordinates activities in the laboratory support areas. Consistently create an exceptional experience with each contact, via inbound and outbound calls, online chat, email, etc. Adheres to established procedure and quality guidelines in support of Patient Access Services Center performance indicators, as well as
Corporate values and codes of excellence.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates all support area needs for the laboratory, as well as all Lab/Path Assistant functions.
  • Role models and acts as a resource to others related to duties of assigned support area.
  • Establishes service priorities, work routines, work flow patterns, and monitors work flow to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of services. May be required to serve at multiple SH locations during a given shift (Site dependent)
  • Communicates, collaborates, and acts as a liaison with support staff, management, members of the health care team and others in order to facilitate continuity and coordination of services.
  • Facilitates quality monitoring activities of support staff.
  • Coordinates all scheduling which may include payroll editing.
  • May handle telephone inquiries for the laboratory providing technical explanations and interpretations when necessary. May serve as a resource for specimen collection and handling questions, forensic drug testing, point of care testing and other pertinent laboratory specialties.
  • May prepare specimens for reference laboratory testing according to laboratory protocol and Federal shipping guidelines insuring specimen integrity, appropriateness of specimen and volume, accurate test orders and test information.

Qualifications

  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Associate's Degree health care related field
  • 3 years of relevant experience laboratory support services, customer service, or related Required
  • CRT-Clinical Lab Assistant (CLA) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology preferred Or
  • CRT-Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology preferred
  • CRT-Phlebotomy Technician - NHA National Healthcareer Association preferred
