Summary Description:
University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks a Program Manager, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Programs within the respective overseas division. Reporting to the appropriate manager in the division, with guidance from the Chief Diversity and Equity Officer, develops and implements diversity-related programs and training. Serves as the point of contact for the University’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In collaboration with the University Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, develops, manages, and delivers the division’s diversity-related training for students, staff, and faculty in areas such as workplace diversity, cross-cultural competency and communication, inclusion, etc. Will coordinate with the division departments and regions to design and implement training programs and other initiatives that enhance the University’s diversity presence overseas. Maintains the training curriculum related to diversity and cultural needs/opportunities to ensure that the diversity mission and core value is present throughout the overseas division. Establishes a learning environment for diversity that is educational, interactive, informative, and experiential. Collaborates with Europe, Asia and Stateside DEI teams as well as installation communities. Work is on-site at the overseas headquarters building and occasional TDY travel to regional education centers might be required.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Plan, develop, and coordinate with other overseas units to present training on such topics as diversity and inclusion.
Develop Division (DEI) plan that supports the University’s DEI strategic plan and UMGC’s overall strategic plan and their respective division’s VP and Director’s priorities.
Organize and serve as lead facilitator for diversity and cultural competency learning programs, events, and activities.
Develop and coordinate curriculum for diversity workshops, seminars, and discussion.
Research and evaluate trends in employee development, diversity, and cultural competency learning programs.
Identify experts within our UMGC and local installation communities that may serve to educate University staff, faculty, and students regarding matters of diversity and inclusion within division locations.
Schedule regular training events and activities to build the diversity competency and skills for their respective UMGC division.
Develop and implement appropriate measurements to track and communicate Division diversity and inclusion efforts and progress to senior leadership.
Manage and lead their respective division’s diversity council, reporting out key items to senior staff.
Maintain the respective division’s DEI SharePoint/Source [PJ1] page and other related communication channels.
Lead their UMGC Division’s engagement in DEI related activities in support of the local military communities’ special observances and training needs, reporting events to the Director of Contract Compliance.
Gather and analyze DEI related data for insight into the respective division’s progress towards strategic goals.
Serve as a leader for continued integration of DEI into everyday operations.
Provide leadership and support to all UMGC employees for diversity-related issues, especially for the leadership team, department directors, Regional Directors (RDs), and faculty.
Develop DEI-related initiatives with and for managers and employees.
Collaborate with recruitment agency for recruitment purposes to foster a diverse talent pool
Manage division’s diversity-related cost center budget.
Develop and deliver training utilizing existing resources and working w/local community leveraging resources.
Assist the Director’s office with responding to DEI related opportunities identified in employee engagement survey results.
Regularly scan and evaluate current DEI efforts and trends (e.g., engagement, learner experience) to find any risks, vulnerabilities, and improvement opportunities.
Make referrals to the University Office of DEI on issues related to EEO, Fair Practices, Title IX, and ADA Compliance.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in organizational development, psychology, human resources, communications, or a related field.
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in the coordination or training of diversity, human resources, cultural learning, and related DEI programs.
Code of confidentiality and ethics.
Ability to work under pressure in a multi-task environment.
Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and written communications.
Is able to interact effectively and work collaboratively with people from diverse cultural and ethnic groups.
Effective interpersonal skills, time management ability and organizational skills.
The incumbent must be able to work extended hours when required, meet deadlines consistently and work with minimal supervision under consistent pressure.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in organizational development, psychology, human resources, communications, or a related field.
At least five (5) years of experience in the coordination or training of diversity, human resources, cultural learning, and related DEI programs.
DEI or related certification.
An advanced level of problem solving, design, and development skills to respond to the needs of our complex environment and the DEI needs.
Collecting and analyzing DEI data for informed decision-making and progress towards DEI goals.
Technical skills for data analysis.
Managing a budget for a DEI or related program
