Job Description:

Position Title: 2025 Production Intern

Position Type: Paid Intern

Position Summary:

Perform minor repairs and routine cleaning of audio and video equipment.

  • Design layouts of audio and video equipment and perform upgrades and maintenance.
  • Manage production advances, including sound, lighting, video, scenic, and more.
  • Produce departmental schedules including event build schedules and runs of show.
  • Monitor all aspects of events, including sound and light quality, artist concerns, and most importantly, artist, crew, and audience safety.
  • Reserve audio-visual equipment and facilities, such as meeting rooms.
  • Maintain inventories of audio, video, lighting, and rigging gear
  • Plan and develop pre-production ideas into outlines, scripts, story boards, and graphics, using own ideas or specifications of assignments.
  • Organize and maintain compliance, license, and warranty information as it relates to audio, video, and lighting.
  • Analyze and maintain data logs for audio-visual activities

Principle Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Supporting internal and external events across multiple departments by operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Audio-Visual equipment at Crystal Bridges and the Momentary
  • Communicating with staff and visiting artists about their Audio-Visual needs
  • Interpreting and generating technical paperwork such as stage plots, signal flow plans, and input lists
  • Managing Audio-Visual equipment inventory, including keeping detailed records of number and location of equipment, as well as detailed repair logs
  • Assisting with a variety of production related prep, planning, and facilitation at Crystal Bridges and the Momentary.
  • Attending meetings and walkthroughs as a representative of the production team
  • Performing additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Training and Traits

  • Digitally savvy is a plus
  • Willingness to troubleshoot as needed
  • Knowledge of PC and Mac computer systems including competency
  • Willingness to learn customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn audio-visual systems, including digital audio mixing consoles, wireless microphone management, projection control systems such as Crestron, static and intelligent lighting systems, and more.
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment including basic computer literacy (word processing, spread sheets, e-mail, etc.) telephone, and copy machines.
  • Ability to adapt to changes calmly and professionally in plans or the environment.
  • Willingness to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to be a team player both within the department and throughout the entire organization.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, and/or weekends in accordance with child labor laws.

    • March 3rd for Undergraduate Intern
  • Anticipated End Date:
    • November 22nd for High School Intern
    • November 8th for Undergraduate Intern

Schedule:

Weekly schedule to be arranged with direct supervisor

Production Intern Schedule for High School Students:

February 3rd - May 3rd (15 hours a week)

May 5th - May 31st (30 hours a week)

June 2nd - July 26th (35 hours a week)

July 27th - August 9th (30 hours a week)

August 11th - November 22nd (15 hours a week)

Production Intern Schedule for Undergraduate Student:

March 3rd - May 10th (20 hours a week)

May 12th - May 31st (30 hours a week)

June 2nd - July 26th (35 hours a week)

July 27th - August 9th (30 hours a week)

August 11th - November 8th (20 hours a week)

Compensation:

High School Intern: $12.00 an hour

Undergraduate Intern: $13.00 an hour

  • Physical demands:  In the work environment described below, position requires work at a desk, utilizing a computer and a telephone for prolonged periods of time, good eye/hand coordination, bending and stretching for filing, and physical stamina to lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of at least three feet for file and materials storage as appropriate for the demands of the office. Visual acuity to review written materials is required for this job.
  • Work environment:  Work will be performed in an office environment and museum spaces. The noise level in the museum work environment is usually low to moderate.
  • If the intern’s personal equipment is used, the museum accepts no liability for any damage caused to said equipment while being used for museum purposes, nor loss or corruption of electronic files on devices.
