Job Summary

Completes special projects as requested, and proposes ideas for improving day to day processes. Processes inpatient and outpatient claims to insurance companies, employers and patients. Claims are followed through the payment cycle to insure timely and accurate payment by third party payers. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of payer regulations and reimbursement methodologies to assure accurate reimbursement.


Essential Functions

  • Processes patient and insurance payments to maintain timely cash flow and accurate account balances. Meets audit expectations, as determined by department.
  • Analyzes assigned accounts receivable portfolio and takes appropriate action to ensure compliant, timely claim resolution.
  • Ensures payer and governmental agency regulatory and compliance requirements are consistently followed and applied.
  • Identify, verify, communicate and monitor applicable accounts receivable (AR) trends and issues.
  • Demonstrates professional communication, including verbal and written.
  • Demonstrates subject matter expertise for payer, process, technology or other department assigned function as needed
  • In coordination with the department support services teams, conduct and validate technology functions with respect to upgrades and optimizations. Identifies and trouble shoots issues that impact claim processing delays.
  • Adheres to department and role-specific policies, procedures and key-metrics. Takes a lead role and acts as mentor, resource, and consultant regarding department specific processes and issues.

Qualifications
  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Associate's Degree
  • 5 years of relevant experience Patient Financial Services Required
