HOW YOU WILL DO IT

Purpose Statement:  Responsible to define the strategic roadmap for the Materials organization and lead the Supply Chain Specialists in the development of strategies to fulfill the roadmap objectives.  Provide project management support for the implementation of the developed strategies.  Provide project management support in strategic process integration of acquired companies.  Reports to the UK Operations Director.

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that we have sufficient coverage of each commodity globally through supplier rationalization as well as supporting new technologies or regions.
  • Proactively monitor marketplace conditions and manage data related to product costing and commodity index.
  • Develop and execute sourcing and supply chain strategies that maximize working capital and ROIC.
  • Mange the development, negotiation, and execution and/or maintenance of supply contracts with all strategic suppliers.
  • Focus the Supply Chain Operations and Site teams on operational excellence to contribute to customer service excellence.
  • Accountable to execute on Plexus’ Best People strategy, leaders will focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning and ensuring that their employees receive the development and coaching required to realize their full potential.

Additional Accountabilities:

  • Establish and manager cross-functional strategy implementations team.
  • Establish performance objectives and associated metrics for Supply Chain Specialists.  Track the performance and report progress on a monthly basis.
  • Map all current Materials processes to establish a baseline for improvement.
  • Work with Materials Systems and Data group to establish useable metrics within the Materials organization.
  • Develop and maintain the strategic roadmap for the Materials organization.
  • Develop material strategies to fulfill the objectives defined by the strategic roadmap. 
  • Provide project management support for the implementation of the developed strategies.
  • Provide benchmarking information on the Materials strategies of Plexus Customers, Suppliers, and Competitors to identify areas of potential opportunity as well as competitive advantage.
  • Develop and document processes and training requirements of new supply chain strategies.
  • Provide project management support in the area of integrating new acquisitions.
  • Provide training and project management support to the Material Teams in the areas of definition, creation, and implementation of the assured supply program.
  • Complete reports and provide information in a timely manner as requested by management.
  • Interacts with staff members of the department, customers and suppliers. Communicates with the Director of Supply Chain Strategy to obtain direction, assistance and to address concerns.
  • Minimal travel may be required to meet the needs of the business.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Materials Management or a related field is required. 
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of related experience is required. 
  • Membership or certification in professional organizations, such as APICS and NAPM is preferred.
  • Successful completion of all internal courses offered by the company is required. 

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key job accountabilities may be considered.


Other Qualifications:  

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication, as well as interpersonal, organizational and troubleshooting skills.
  • Problem solving, process analysis, and supervisory skills along with a positive attitude.
  • Proficiency in standard personal computer and mainframe business and manufacturing applications.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all customer and company information.
  • General office equipment and materials.

Work Environment:

  • The work setting should consist of an office environment with suitable lighting, comfortable temperatures, and a low noise level.
