About the team and the role:

The Manager, Government Relations- Canada will serve as the organization's primary liaison with Canadian government officials and agencies. The individual will be responsible for advancing the eBay's policy objectives and managing government relations strategies across Canada, including federal, provincial, and local levels!

This position will report to the Head of Government Relations, Americas.

What you will accomplish: (limit to 6 bullets)

  • Monitor and analyze relevant legislative and regulatory developments at the federal, provincial, and local levels and develop strategies to accomplish goals.
  • Develop and manage relationships with government officials, policymakers, and other relevant partners.
  • Represent eBay in meetings with government officials, trade associations, and other relevant partners.
  • Collaborate with industry associations and coalitions to advance common policy objectives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with corporate communications, legal, and global government relations teams on strategy and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement advocacy campaigns to shape policy outcomes in alignment with the organization's goals.
  • Organize engagement opportunities with government team members.
  • Manage external government relations consultants and trade associations.
  • Prepare regular reports on government relations activities and outcomes for internal collaborators.

What you will bring: (limit to 6 bullets)

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public administration, law, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in government relations, public policy, or a related field, with a proven track record of successful advocacy and policy influence.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian political system, legislative process, and regulatory environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of internal and external partners.
  • Critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with government officials and other external and internal collaborators.
  • Flexibility to be based in Toronto or Ottawa.
