Position Summary
As an Ultrasound Technologist, you will perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician to support accurate diagnosis and patient care. This role requires strong technical skill, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing an excellent patient experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- Registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) - Successful completion of one registry pertinent to the department beyond physics (options include OB, abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, and vascular)
- Health Services\BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)

- 1 or more years of experience.

- Candidates may be considered for Specialty Technologist in Training roles based on current enrollment or participation in an approved ultrasound training program.
Essential Functions
- Perform ultrasound exams in accordance with department protocols and physician orders
- Ensure proper patient identification, order verification, and exam preparation
- Review images for quality, clarity, and accuracy prior to submission
- Complete studies within expected timeframes while maintaining patient care and quality standards
- Provide patient education, ensure comfort, and address questions or concerns
- Maintain ARDMS certification and modality-specific competencies
- Operate ultrasound equipment and related systems to produce high-quality images
- Follow infection control and sterile technique protocols
- Accurately document procedures, patient information, and any adverse reactions
- Support students and team members with training, procedures, and exam protocols
- Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, and quality assurance
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
