The pay range is $89,700.00 - $161,500.00

In Corporate Affairs, you’ll have the opportunity to play a critical role in enhancing and protecting Target’s brand and enabling growth across the business. With the broad range of complementary capabilities in Communications, Sustainability, Risk, Reputation Management, Government Affairs, DEI, and Community Impact, this team helps Target manage the needs and expectations of our team, guests, media, communities, elected officials, and other stakeholders. 

The Senior Manager, Stakeholder Engagement will report to the Director of Stakeholder Engagement. This role will be critical in executing strategies that build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, supporting the overarching goals of Target’s Corporate Affairs team. The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator and strategic thinker, capable of fostering partnerships that align with our mission and values. This individual will be a part of the broader Corporate Affairs team, and will lead initiatives that foster strong relationships, enhance the organization’s reputation, and support strategic business objectives through effective communication and collaboration.

 As a Senior Manager, Stakeholder Engagement you will:

  • Stakeholder Engagement Execution:

    • Support the creation and development of the stakeholder management capability for Corporate Affairs.

    • Develop and enhance relationships with both legacy partners and emerging community segments.

    • Coordinate and manage outreach programs to engage diverse stakeholder groups effectively.

    • Partner with key internal teams to bring the Target brand to life at events, conferences, and other community experiences.

  • Relationship Management:

    • Manage a portfolio of national and local stakeholder partners.

    • Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with key partners, including managing partner relationships and being accountable for engagement and evaluation of their overall program outcomes.

    • Oversee activations and engagements that align with Target’s strategic goals, ensuring successful execution and measurable outcomes.

  • Budget Management:

    • Develop and manage budgets related to stakeholder engagements and activations, ensuring alignment with financial goals.

  • Communication Strategy Support:

    • Assist in the development and execution of clear and consistent communication plans for various stakeholder groups.

    • Develop communication materials and presentations that effectively convey Target’s mission and initiatives; partner with relevant communications and community teams.

  • Issue Monitoring and Response:

    • Monitor emerging issues and trends relevant to stakeholders.

    • Collaborate with internal teams to develop responsive strategies and communication plans addressing stakeholder concerns.

  • Event Coordination:

    • Plan and facilitate stakeholder engagement events, including forums, conferences, and community meetings.

    • Represent Target at public engagements, advocating for our values and objectives.

About You:

  • Four-year degree in Communications, Public Relations, Non-Profit Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in stakeholder engagement, corporate communications, public affairs or public relations, with a demonstrated ability to manage projects and build relationships.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a talent for negotiation and conflict resolution.

  • Familiarity with key stakeholder groups relevant to Target’s mission (e.g., nonprofit, government, media).

  • Experience working in a cross-functional, matrixed environment.

  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member’s core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
