The Proposal Engineer – Mechanical will be a key role in preparing the techno-commercially viable proposals for Gensets and Balance of plants for complete installation. This position involves performing mechanical design calculations, preparing layouts, and ensuring compliance with technical standards and project requirements. The engineer will collaborate closely with the sales and applications teams to develop optimized technical solutions for customer projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design and calculations for air flow, pressure drop, and ventilation systems.
• Calculate air volume, resistance, flow rate (air/water), and noise levels for generator and plant installations.
• Design ventilation and fuel flow systems, integrating automation where required.
• Prepare and review mechanical drawings, ensuring accuracy and alignment with client requirements.
• Work with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM tools for 2D/3D modelling.
• Ensure compliance with PCB norms and CCOE/PESO standards applicable to mechanical systems.
• Support proposal documentation by providing technical inputs, datasheets, and equipment specifications.
• Coordinate with electrical and control teams for multidisciplinary system integration.
• Participate in technical clarifications and support the sales team during bid evaluations.

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Strong understanding of HVAC and ventilation design principles.
• Ability to perform mechanical flow and noise calculations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit / BIM software.
• Familiarity with mechanical norms and statutory compliance (PCB, PESO, CCOE).
• Good analytical and documentation skills.
• Ability to read, interpret, and prepare technical drawings and layouts.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Experience: 8-10 years of experience in mechanical proposal, design, or application engineering (preferably in power generation or industrial systems).
