Peripheral Vascular Health (PVH) is an exciting and dynamic business with annual revenue exceeding $1 billion and many high growth segments/therapy areas.  There are significant clinical unmet needs and many promising potential solutions that need to be evaluated and/or advanced.

The Peripheral Vascular Health (PVH) Upstream Marketing Principal Product Specialist will help shape the future of this business by assessing opportunities to identify both short and long-term plans, goals, and objectives for a specific product line or therapy space.  This will involve conducting market research and competitive product analysis to identify unmet patient/customer needs as well as assessing market viability and ultimate profitability of various opportunities.  The role will report into the Sr. Manager of Pipeline Marketing within the Peripheral Vascular Health operating unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the marketing function as a team member on new product development teams.
  • Monitor competitive landscape and anticipate movement that may impact market dynamics.
  • Proactively develop strategies to combat competitive activity.  At times this will involve conducting competitive product analysis and market research of product consumer behavior and professional audience.
  • Work to determine the profitability and viability of new products or product iterations/enhancements.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with KOLs and physicians that can be leveraged to support VoC and opportunity assessments as well as providing insight into market dynamics.  Interface with this network of KOLs to identify key strategic area of focus and obtain feedback regarding current and future product opportunities.
  • Promote PVH Pipeline by actively engaging customers (internal and external) to increase awareness of current and potential development activity.
  • Serve as technical adviser, demonstrating products and troubleshooting product issues.
  • Establish strong working relationships with other functions impacting pipeline marketing activities (Strategy, BD, R&T/R&D, Downstream Marketing, Medical Science, Finance, Clinical, Regulatory, Commercial Sales, etc.) to translate customer requirements into meaningful projects/products while negotiating trade-offs necessary to meet technical feasibility and customer requirements.

  • Build quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to all quality requirements.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7 years’ experience in a marketing, sales, strategy, finance or related field, Or 5 years with advanced degree.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD)
  • Knowledge of Cardiovascular/Diagnostic markets, customers, and products
  • Project management, program design and execution
  • Has worked in or with geographies outside of the United States
  • Analytical ability to identify and think through all issues in order to determine their impacts on the business
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity & define own strategies, priorities, KPIs…etc.
  • Strong business storytelling skills; comfort presenting to leadership
  • Relationship management prowess: customers, KOLs, field reps, fellow core team members
  • Adaptability: an interest or ability to flex further up- or down-stream as needed (Diligence, Commercial or Market Development Plans…etc.)
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Market modeling and business acumen
  • Curiosity and humility – You won’t be the expert on everything, but need to learn a lot and do it very quickly

Physical requirement:

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally in support of customer engagements and

internal Medtronic activities.

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$134,400.00 - $201,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
