The Red Hat Container Tools team is looking for an Intern to join us in Brno, CZ. In this role, you will develop container technologies to support internal and external customers. A candidate should expect to work in an agile environment to write new features, review pull requests, fix bugs, update docs, and work in multiple technical areas like podman, buildah, skopeo and/or other container related technologies.. This internship will give you the opportunity to work on emerging technologies and possibly create new ones. The intern will gain insights into how the containers are built, run and managed. They will get experience working in github, using golang and get introduced to the building blocks of containerized infrastructure.

Red Hat’s Intern Program is a collaborative effort between the Emerging Talent team and our intern managers. The program is designed to offer a meaningful and well-rounded experience — combining professional development, networking opportunities, social engagement, and impactful work. This is a paid internship based in our Brno office, typically lasting 12 months, with the possibility to extend up to 24 months. Interns work on average 20 hours per week, with flexible working hours, and the expected start date is February 1st.

What you will do:

• Develop new features in container technologies to support different products

• Participate in upstream communities and on a scrum team

• Design technical solutions to abstract problems

• Ensure test plans for the code you create exist and that documentation is correct

• Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment and be a part of a distributed team

What you will bring:

• You must be enrolled in a Czech university (Bachelor’s 3rd/4th year or Master’s) for the full internship duration and be able to work full-time within 2 years.

• Working knowledge of written and spoken English

• Basic experience with any programming language, experience with Golang, Rust and/or python is a plus

• Working knowledge of Linux

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Knowledge of Jira and GitHub workflows a plus

• Familiarity with Linux containers, Docker, or Kubernetes a plus

• Familiarity with Networking is a plus
