Position Summary:
Performs duties associated with physical security, emergency management and safety-related programs with little to no supervision to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
PLEASE NOTE: This position is Hybrid, at our Norfolk, VA offices.
Key Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- Assists third party guard services, processes access badge requests, implements emergency plans and processes, manages access and intrusion detection systems, monitors recording systems and coordinates security system troubleshooting with the security team and vendors
- Gathers evidence, performs interviews and conducts administrative investigations involving criminal and security related incidents (e.g. policy and compliance violations, workplace violence reports, trespassing, property damage, assaults, etc.); partners with HR on internal investigations
- Responds to all hazards, monitors events to anticipate possible threats and alerts security and emergency response personnel as needed
- Completes various security, emergency management, safety, and operational inspections
- Conducts routine maintenance and minor repairs on various security systems, alarms devices and other related equipment; Assists and monitors vendors involved in security system repairs, upgrades and/or new security construction projects
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or 5+ years of related experience
- Knowledgeable of both physical & technical security measures and best practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with stakeholders at multiple levels
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Ability to conduct internet searches related to investigations
- Ability to meet deadlines and work in a diverse environment
- Excellent decision making, interpersonal, presentation, and collaborative skills
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle; Valid U.S. Driver's License or the ability to obtain one is required
- Works well in team environment
Preferred
- Current Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) registration for Electronic Security Technician is highly desirable
- Certification or accreditation from a Risk or Security Management Association or governing body
- Strong project management skills
- Experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing security systems, low voltage circuits, alarm systems, access control, CCTV Systems, running cables or other security-based equipment
