Founded in 2019, Transmutex aim to reinvent nuclear energy/medicine/waste recycling by using an accelerator-driven system (ADS) to optimize the transmutation of long-lived nuclear waste. The innovative combination of particle accelerators and Thorium fuel based on existing long-lived radioactive waste allows to generate energy intrinsically safe and recycle the stockpile of long-lived waste in a proliferation-resistant way.
We are seeking a highly qualified Radiation Protection Engineer to oversee and enhance radiation safety measures for our planned facilities. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of industry experience and a proven track record in radiation protection, compliance, and risk management within the nuclear sector.
Key Responsibilities
-Develop, implement, and maintain radiation protection programs in compliance with regulatory standards.
-Conduct radiation safety assessments and simulations and provide recommendations to minimize exposure risks.
-Utilize common nuclear simulation codes (e.g., MCNP, FLUKA, SCALE) for radiation shielding analysis and dose assessments.
-Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure radiation safety protocols are integrated into all phases of facility design and operations.
-Train and educate staff on radiation protection principles and practices.
-Prepare and maintain documentation required for regulatory compliance and internal reporting.
-Participate in emergency planning and response activities.
-Engage with regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to nuclear safety standards.
Requirements
The candidates we are looking for must have:
-Master’s degree (or above) in Radiation Protection, Nuclear Engineering, Health Physics, or a related field.
-Minimum 5 years of experience in radiation protection in the nuclear or related industry.
-Strong understanding of radiation protection standards (e.g., ENSI guidelines, ICRP, NRC, OSHA).
-Proficiency in nuclear simulation codes such as MCNP, FLUKA, SCALE, with practical experience in modelling and analysis.
-Ability to interpret and convert simulation results into system requirements and safety- recommendations and to work closely with other related units
-Experience with radiation monitoring systems, dosimetry, and decontamination procedures is a plus.
-Proven ability to develop and sustain a positive safety culture within multidisciplinary teams is a plus.
-Familiarity with several nuclear safety frameworks, including NRC and Euratom standards, is a plus.
