As the Commercial Real Estate Underwriter II, you will be responsible for assisting REG relationship managers in the assessment and underwriting of new REG Managed Investment CRE loans (non owner occupied CRE loans $1,000,000 or greater) in accordance with established underwriting policies, practices and standards.  

How you’ll spend your time:  

  • You will partner with REG relationship managers to perform credit underwriting duties for existing/prospective client relationships, which may include but are not limited to the following: 1) perform detailed credit analysis to determine borrower/guarantor repayment capacity, 2) appropriate loan structuring recommendations, and 3) complete all of or portions of the credit packages (as agreed with the relationship manager) for submission to credit committee for approval (new business and renewals).  
  • The preparation of underwriting documents will also include collateral analysis on multiple asset classes and preparation of pricing and risk rating models suitable for each credit request.  
  • You will present loan submissions to the UMB senior loan committee on behalf of relationship managers and answer questions relative to the review and approval of the loan (as requested).  
  • You will review appraisals upon receipt to confirm appraisal assumptions are in line with underwriting assumptions and satisfy any approval conditions.  
  • You will provide recurring customer service to existing and prospective clients, which includes direct contact with customers either through participation in joint sales calls with relationship managers or direct correspondence with clients and perform various projects/tasks as needed with an emphasis on maintaining UMB TUCE at all times 
  • You will file all required forms and reports, and resolve all related issues in a timely and efficient manner.  
  • You will work with team members in loan operations, credit analysis, regional commercial banking, business banking, special asset management group, loan review, public finance, capital markets and international banking to coordinate commercial loan decisions, the closing process, plus ongoing commercial loan administration.  
  • You will participate in various REG underwriting related projects, as available.  
  • You may mentor less experienced REG underwriters and/or portfolio managers.  
  • Other duties as assigned.  

 

We’re excited to talk with you if:  

 

  • You possess a bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field.  
  • You have 5+ years commercial banking experience (including 3+ years of specific commercial real estate experience) to include credit underwriting.  
  • You hold a current valid driver's license. 
  • You show knowledge & understanding in how to identify and process maturing loans, line renewals, term loans that need to be extended, how loans can be restructured, approval process, change terms, new underwriting, etc. 
  • You show understanding of credit underwriting of all major investment CRE property types. 
  • You demonstrate knowledge of bank products, services, and bank operations.  
  • You are able to interpret policies/procedures, loan contracts, and understanding of credit reports, financial statements and loan documents.  
  • You possess analytical skills, including underwriting of CRE properties and markets; and guarantor financial statements, including real estate schedules. 
  • You are a self-starter, show initiative, and transfer knowledge to less experienced peers. 
  • You have worked in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • You have experience working with commercial lending software. 

 

Bonus points if: 

  • You have 7+ years commercial banking experience (including 7+ years of specific commercial real estate experience) including credit underwriting. 
  • You have prospected and networked at various levels within a company and industry. 

Compensation Range:

Minimum: $69,230.00 - Maximum: $179,300.00
