We are seeking a talented individual to join our Investment Solutions Client team at Mercer. This role will be based in Lisbon. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Consulting Analyst based in Portugal, to join our international Investment Solutions Client Team, which looks after over 600 clients across 25 countries, totaling over $160bn AUM.

You will be supporting a range of predominantly UK clients, with potential exposure to our wider European clients too, including Portuguese clients.

There are many names for ‘Investment Solutions’ around the world, including OCIO, delegated solutions, fiduciary management and implemented consulting, but they all center on the same thing – supporting institutional investors in an effort to meet their goals more efficiently. In the UK, our investors are predominantly defined benefit pension schemes, but we also work with a growing number of insurers, charities, endowments and foundations.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly successful client team with c.70 colleagues across the UK, Ireland, Lisbon and India. While based from Lisbon alongside the existing Lisbon-based members of our team.

We will count on you to:

  • As a Consulting Analyst, you will support Client Directors and Managers in delivering service excellence, investment advice and managing projects and ongoing workflow. Topics can vary across performance analysis, strategic asset allocation advice, economic commentaries, document drafting and PowerPoint presentations. While the role requires strong technical / numerical skills, it also requires strong project management and communication skills to bring together all of the elements of Mercer’s solutions for clients. You may also be given the opportunity to support one of our specialist teams in areas such as Responsible Investment, Fixed Income or Client Reporting.
  • The client team is the face of our Investment Solutions business, engaging directly with investors. As well as supporting our senior investment consultants/client directors, you will work closely with our wider functions including Strategy, Portfolio Management and Risk and Operations to deliver better outcomes and become a trusted advisor to our clients.

What you need to have:

  • Advanced English level (C1/C2).
  • A good understanding of investment markets and asset classes.
  • 1-2 years experience in an investment or finance related role, or to have recently graduated from a finance-related university program, with a desire to develop their understanding on the job as well as tackling the CFA or other investment-related exams.
  • Effective listening skills, strong communication and organisational skills, and a client focus to engage with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to work within a team environment, share ideas and present persuasive arguments.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills in order to prioritise and effectively manage a wide variety of ongoing tasks.
