Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Engineer Systems to join our team. This position will be located at the Northrop Grumman facility in Redondo Beach, CA or via a candidate that can work remotely. Travel up to 10% of the time may be required.
This role will be in support of the Collaborative Mission Planning Continuum (CMPC) program. The candidate will serve as an integral member of the systems engineering team and will be responsible for collaborating with the customer, systems engineering leads, architects, and test teams to develop concepts of operations and system concept definitions and to shape and decompose system level requirements.
The ideal candidates are innovative, capable of multitasking, possess strong systems engineering knowledge, and are adaptable to fast-paced environments and agile methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Directly interact with the customer and other stakeholders to understand their mission needs and help them shape and validate requirements
Directly interact with external test teams to ensure requirements are verifiable
Help capture requirements in the Cameo Enterprise Architecture system model with traceability to system components
Work with the customer and other stakeholders to develop concepts of operations
Participate in the System Safety Board with customers to determine and mitigate potential system hazards
Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 8 years of related professional/military experience, OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 6 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 4 years of related professional/military experience.
Current DoD Secret Clearance
Experience developing concepts of operation and interface definitions, decomposing and allocating requirements, and translating requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Experience tracing requirements to epics and features with acceptance criteria that can be configured and developed in sprints.
Strong understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering principles and tools.
Experience implementing and using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools, practices, and methods.
Expert-level proficiency in SysML with at least 2+ years of experience developing use cases, sequence diagrams, and activity diagrams.
Experience developing models in Cameo Enterprise Architecture.
Experience working in an Agile framework.
Experience communicating technical topics clearly to customers and senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in full lifecycle of Systems Engineering, including requirements decomposition, test planning, and requirements verification
Experience preparing verification documentation for system level requirements
Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
Large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production.
