Responsible for Revenue and Margin Growth as well as Operating Profit in a defined geographic market. Determines the Market’s long-term strategy to achieve goals. Communicates strategy and goals as well as new products, services, initiatives, and manages change management. Collaborates with corporate departments to facilitate business solutions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

Operations

  • Interprets company vision and division strategy in order to develop the Market’s long-term strategy and financial/operational goals
  • Develops implementation and communication plans to align the Market with the Division 
  • Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, pricing requirements, and market growth opportunities
  • Coordinates with Business Development on new product merchandise and service offerings requirements to meet customer needs and demands
  • Monitors and assesses the competitions activities, services, and products
  • Recommends enhancements to services and products to maintain competitive edge and increase market share & penetration
  • Collaborates with Corporate Sales, Product, & Pricing departments as needed on operational improvements & efficiencies as well as suggesting new products or services
  • Attends Community Events to promote the Company Brand and represent SCI

Administrative

  • Reviews, evaluates, and trends financial actuals to forecast
  • Discusses with management where financials are trending below targets and collaborates on corrective actions
  • Analyzes and trends Market Territory expenditures to identify potential Risks and over expenditures
  • Involves Financial and/or Risk department as appropriate for further insight and recommendations 
  • Collaborate with Corporate support departments as needed to facilitate financial or human resources needs
  • Additional responsibilities as requested or assigned

People Development

  • Develop a strong, trusting, and reliable team
  • Understand team members career aspirations and provide assignments to develop skills and/or close gaps
  • Constructively address issues and provide tangible and appropriate feedback
  • Apply a proactive and collaborative management style in order to increase employee engagement and minimize turnover
  • Monitor training and licensing requirements ensuring staff is re-trained/licensed prior to expiration
  • Responsible for screening candidates (internal and external) and hiring or promoting a skilled and effective staff
  • Establishes pay, recommends pay increases, special pays, and career advancements
  • Discipline staff as necessary; writes development plans to close behavior or skill gaps
  • Collaborates with Human Resources throughout discipline, development, and termination processes
  • Recommends and discusses terminations with Leadership

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or related discipline required

Experience

  • At least ten (10) years’ managing revenue growth and operating expenses in the Mortuary industry required
  • At least five (5) years managing and developing human resources
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishing annual goals and building high performing teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Clear and articulate communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Understanding financial implications of decisions
  • Adaptable to work with various business entities within a local and enterprise-wide culture
  • Administrative skills necessary to manage work force, administrative transactions, and planning/ forecasting responsibilities
  • Analytical thinking to weigh pros/cons of solutions in order to make effective and sustainable business decisions
  • Computer literate and proficient with MS Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point

Work Conditions

Work Environment

  • Work indoors primarily indoors
  • Limited amount of local and/or multiple location traveling required
  • Professional Dress is required when in contact with families and in business meetings 

Work Postures

  • Frequent, continuous periods of time standing, up 6 hours per day
  • Sitting continuously for many hours per day, up to 6 hours per day
  • Climbing stairs to access buildings frequently

Physical Demands

  • Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is required, includes paperwork, calculators, computers and phone usage

Work Hours

  • Working beyond “standard” hours as the need arises
  • Travel up to 30%
