Job Description

Job Profile Summary:

The Infrastructure Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of virtual infrastructure support platforms and software operations. This role involves supgrading, integrating, and maintaining technologies, as well as documenting critical dependencies and issues. The Infrastructure Reliability Engineer will also be responsible to resolve technical issues and monitor the capacity and utilization of the infrastructure used by Global Automation Center of Excellence.

Key Accountabilities:

Individual Accountabilities:

  • Ensures that virtual infrastructure support platform and software operations
  • Selects, upgrades and integrates new technologies; maintains existing technologies
  • Documents and executes simple software components of larger architectures
  • Documents critical dependencies and issues where necessary
  • Installs and configures software
  • Maintains security certificate, including a process of refreshing the certificates as necessary
  • ​Resolves critical technical issues relating to software or hardware
  • Monitors the capacity and utilization of the infrastructure, including validation of the monthly financial chargebacks
  • Ensures that large-scale distributed systems operate optimally
  • Greater positive impact to specific organizational entities
  • Contributes to the success of a team

Key Shared Accountabilities:

  • Familiarity with agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle
  • Understanding of how technology supports Manulife business strategy
  • Experience designing, implementing and maintaining large-scale distributed systems
  • Needs classroom training for new disciplines
  • Finds his/her own way in tutorials and documentation
