ROLE SUMMARY
The Pfizer Intelligent Assistance Solutions Team within the AI Data and Analytics (AIDA) organization is responsible for the products/platforms strategy of Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Process (NLP) and Generative AI capabilities across the enterprise. Its mission is to innovate, build, standardize and scale breakthrough AI/GenAI solutions, products and platforms that enable Pfizer to connect digitally with all our customers.
The Intelligent Assistance Solutions Team seeks a Machine Learning (ML) Products Lead who will be dedicated to leveraging data, machine/deep learning, and recent advances in NLP and Generative AI to create breakthrough solutions that change patients lives.
Day-to-day, the ML Products Lead will actively support a high performing team of ML/AI product engineers to evaluate and innovative with open-source and commercial ML/GenAI models, methods, frameworks and pipelines that are critical to developing breakthroughs AI solutions. The team will evaluate and execute on high priority use cases to exhibit proof of value and work in collaboration with AI engineering and platform functions, to industrialize solutions into products.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with teams across Pfizer to maximize the use of ML and Generative AI capabilities to support efforts focused on digitizing the enterprise by redefining existing internal business processes and how Pfizer engages with patients and healthcare providers.
Management, mentorship and development of 5-6 ML/AI Product engineering colleagues.
Lead and execute on high value PoCs/MVPs related to NLP and Generative AI.
Serve as subject matter experts for Small and Large Language models assessment activities.
Develop and maintain models strategy, roadmaps and common evaluation frameworks.
Incubate and maintain a pipeline focused on exploratory investigations for new models, microservices and product ideas.
Manage project delivery goals through a combination of good planning, removing obstacles, technical mentoring, reviewing work, and fostering positive collaboration with product, design and other engineering teams.
Partner with other Data Science & AI oriented groups within Pfizer to develop common tools & approaches through participation in formal/informal community of practice activities.
Define and clearly communicate vision and business value of ML-based initiatives to key business stakeholders (Sr. Director/VP level).
Shared ownership of advancing team's capabilities in innovative areas.
Contribute to critical talent acquisition and development activities through external partnerships and co-sponsored hackathons.
QUALIFICATIONS
MS Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Data Science.
10+ years prior work experience in Life Science, Healthcare or associated consulting practice.
8+ years of experience directly managing a team of software engineers or ML Engineers.
6+ years' experience working within AWS Ecosystem.
6+ years of hands-on programming experience in at least one of the following: SQL, Python, JAVA, C/C++.
5+ years ML coding experience (statistical learning, deep learning, Tensorflow/Keras, GCP/AWS)
Strong working knowledge of machine learning model architectures (i.e.: Neural Networks Transformer etc...).
Demonstrated track record of recruiting and grooming engineers and data scientists.
Demonstrated experience in applying Responsible AI and MLOps principles in practice.
Strong knowledge of project management principles and agile scrum practices.
Ability to create technical examples, prototypes, and demonstrations based on rapidly changing data, models & tool sets.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment; with the ability to effectively multi-task and drive several workstreams forward.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
GENERAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Advisor/Consultancy: Provides well-informed advice, typically within a specific technical specialization, ensuring that it is properly understood and appropriately exploited, to enhance the effectiveness of significant activities. Provides advice on technical aspects of Conversational UI and ensures that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices are applied correctly.
Technical Acumen: Maintains knowledge of specific technologies provides detailed advice regarding their application, executes specialized tasks.
Thought Leadership & Advocacy: Develop awareness of industry developments and best practices Provide thought leadership in emerging technologies as they relate to AI and Conversational UI.
Presentation Skills: Ability to develop visually simple and appealing PowerPoint presentations and be comfortable with articulating and communicating with the right authority and messaging to a broad range of stakeholders.

Ability to work in group settings over virtual meetings and different time zones.
