Summary: As an Application Support Engineer, you will act as software detectives, providing a dynamic service that identifies and resolves issues within multiple components of critical business systems. Your typical day will involve collaborating with various teams to troubleshoot software problems, ensuring system reliability, and implementing solutions that enhance operational efficiency. You will engage in continuous learning to stay updated with the latest technologies and methodologies, contributing to a culture of innovation and excellence within the organization. Roles & Responsibilities: Mainframe Batch & Console Operations – Responsibilities • Understand workload distribution across ESP agents and ensure optimized batch flow. • Monitor daily and nightly batch cycles through CSF and GUI tools. • Respond to job delays, failures, ABENDs, and trigger-based alerts (LATE, DELAYED, ABEND). • Perform reruns, restarts, and recovery actions as per standard operating procedures. • Troubleshoot job failures related to JCL errors, dataset issues, or missing dependencies. • Perform one-time updates to ESP active schedules (AD HOC changes), ensuring accuracy and no disruption to running applications. • Maintain high SLA compliance by ensuring timely execution of critical batch jobs. • Log, track, and resolve incidents using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow. • Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and recommend permanent fixes. • Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and DBA teams for cross-functional issue resolution. • Participate in ESP DR drills including cold starts, warm restarts, and environment recovery activities. • Monitor system consoles for critical messages, WTORs, alerts, and system abnormalities, ensuring timely escalation and response. • Assist in planning and executing IPL activities, ensuring proper system startup and validating post-IPL health. • Monitor CICS regions for transaction delays, high CPU usage, storage issues, and abnormal terminations to ensure smooth online performance. • Demonstrate strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills in handling SLA-driven, business-critical workloads. Professional & Technical Skills: • Primary: CA ESP Workload Automation • Operating System: z/OS • Job Control & Scripting: JCL, REXX • Frameworks: ITIL (Incident, Problem, Change Management) Additional Information: - The candidate should have minimum 3 years of experience in IBM z/OS. - This position is based at our Bengaluru office. - A 15 years full time education is required.
