How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Senior Technical Support Specialist is responsible for reviewing requests for new part numbers and quotes, verifying these requests against Airgas standard SOP’s, setting up part numbers in PPM, and determining our products cost and suggested selling price. They will continually improve the tools and processes used to perform these reviews. Actively participate in internal and external forums and organizations to increase and share their expertise within and outside of Airgas. They will respond to technical questions concerning Airgas product line and applications from internal and external customers and provide high level support to the PNCS team. They will be an active participant on the Fuel Oxidizer Review Team, Safety Advice Team and the Product Review Board.
  • Review of part number requests for following criteria:

    • Compliance to Airgas SOP’s and Safety Bulletins

    • Safety and compatibility

    • Capability to produce

    • CGA

    • DOT compliance

  • Set-up of part numbers in PNCS with all relevant components to the part number per Airgas standards.

  • Determination of raw material cost, intercompany transfer pricing, national pricing.

  • Continually improving the tools used to determine the data required for Part Number Creation.

  • Maintain data tables used to determine mixture properties in PPM, material costing and mixture safety tools.

  • Provide costs for Specialty Gas Products to internal customers.

  • Giving technical assistance to regional personnel and external customers

  • Reviewing and approving Fuel/oxidizer mixture recipes. Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the AirgasFuel Oxidizer Safety System. 

  • Performing Fuel-Oxidizer audits at ASG and regional labs.

  • High level support for the PPM management team.

  • Active participation on the Product Review Board.

  • Provide support to ASG Safety, SAFCOR and the IMS Team.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

Are you a MATCH?

  • In-Depth knowledge of compliance and regulations; specifically as it relates to the shipping and handling of Airgas specialty gas products (DOT, OSHA, CGA, etc…)

  • Hands-on experience in the production of specialty gas mixtures including recipe generation, blending and assay.

  • Have good organizational and analytical skills.

  • Have experience or the ability to learn the use of Microsoft Excel macros and VBA.

  • Ability to communicate well with staff, management, customers and vendors.

  • Proficient in the Google platform.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to handle conflict and be effective in a team environment.

  • Self starter/ self directed.  Must be able to work with minimal supervision and determine and schedule critical daily tasks.

  • Participation in training and seminars in order to continue to build knowledge about specialty gases and product offerings.

  • Actively participate, attend meetings and seek leadership positions in industry and international standards development organizations.

  • Able to spend up to 50% of their schedule on domestic and international business travel.

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.

  • At least 20 combined years experience in Specialty Gas blending, assay, management and technical support.
