We’re looking for compassionate and adaptable Nursing Assistants to provide exceptional care across multiple units. In this flexible role, you’ll support patients as a sitter, assist with patient transport, and gain experience as a nurse aide across multiple nursing units at our newly opened Atrium Health Lake Norman Hospital location. What You'll Do

  • Patient Care & Support:  Assist patients with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and orientation to unit procedures. Take vital signs, height, and weight measurements, and promptly report changes in condition.
  • Safety & Observation: Maintain a safe environment and provide continuous observation as delegated by the RN. Document required information and communicate patient safety concerns immediately.
  • Transport Services: Safely transport patients to and from clinical areas via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, including those with oxygen, IV pumps, or restraints. Ensure proper use of the Transport Tracking System.
  • Technical & Clerical Tasks: Perform Nurse Aide I or II tasks per state guidelines; with training, complete technical procedures such as 12-lead ECG and routine venipuncture. Answer phones, enter data, maintain medical records, and manage stock supplies.
  • Flexibility & Communication: Float between units as needed, including medical/surgical, critical care and maternity and perform transport and patient safety attendant duties. Foster positive, professional communication with patients, families, and staff.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all policies, procedures, and age/development-specific care guidelines.

Physical Requirements

Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stretching, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Must speak and understand English in good understandable terms. Must have manual and finger dexterity. Physical abilities testing required.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Current listing with the DFS Nurse Aide Registry as a Nurse Aide I or with the applicable state Board of Nursing as a Nurse Aide II.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.
