The role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Nutrition Assistant to join our Nutrition Services team at Sydney Private Hospital Sydney.

We currently have a casual opportunity for a Nutrition Assistant to deliver outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills to provide a high quality menu and nutrition based service to our patients. The position requires a strong focus on patient interaction and menu selection via our patient bedside menu service.

Your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Provide nutritional support to patients by assisting patients with their meal selections according to their dietary, social and physical needs through the co-ordination of menus and meals using a computerised Bedside Menu Service

  • Customer Service is delivered through a high standard of menu and meal service to ensure patient satisfaction

  • Co-ordinate all patient food and beverage requirements from the patient care level to Food Services

  • Encourage and promote communication between dietitians, food service staff and nursing staff on patient care levels to ensure patients’ needs are met

  • Works collaboratively both within and outside the team and takes ownership of delivering accurate and timely results

  • Manages own work load to deliver results which ensures department as a whole is productive and efficient

Your skills and experience:
As an outstanding Nutrition Assistant, you will possess the following:

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition & Dietetics) or Certificate III Health Service Assistant (Nutrition & Dietetics)

  • Amazing availability and flexibility

  • Sound knowledge of nutrition and therapeutic diets

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and customer relations skills and experience

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team and independently

  • Strong computer and administrative skills

Previous experience as a Nutrition Assistant or Diet Aide and experience using the Cbord Food Service System is highly desirable.

The position is based on shift work and requires you to be flexible; including being available to work weekends and extra shifts where required by the department. The hours of work are not specific, however a roster will be provided 2 weeks in advance.



Remuneration:
St. Vincent's Health Australia (NSW Private Hospitals) Support Services Enterprise Agreement 2022 – Nutrition Assistant Level 5: $35.30 AUD salary packaging + superannuation exclusive of shift penalties or allowances
