Job Description:

About the role:

The Manager, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), assists the Director, Supplier Relationship Management in managing the day-to day operations supporting our service providers.  The manager will lead a high performance team ensuring service levels and quality of information received from our service providers exceeds the demands of our business partners.  It is the Managers responsibility to ensure processes have been established and documented for Operations.  As a seasoned leader, you bring a strong operational background, a passion for continuous improvement and excellence.    

What will you do?

  • Control and monitor the flow of work, assign projects/tasks to team members
  • Plan, direct and evaluate the performance of a team engaged in carrying out day to day activities supporting our Suppliers
  • Oversee utilization of team members
  • Identify and drive continuous improvements
  • Monitor quality, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), forecasts and turnaround times to ensure consistency of service levels and standards related to our service providers
  • Participate in departmental, intra divisional and companywide projects including new technologies, processes and practices
  • Monitor and oversee the management of new processes
  • Responsible for integration of new service providers into SRM model for day to day activities
  • Problem solve for invoice discrepancies and anomalies
  • Relationship manager for all services provided and with the team handles all inquiries and resolves problems that impact the internal processes
  • Manage the Team Lead and Supplier Relationship Specialist positions
  • Responsible for the monthly Finance reconciliation that outlines the variances between actual and plan expenses
  • Participates in the contract renewal process for all external providers across Canadian Operations in partnership with Strategic Sourcing, Business and SRM Governance
  • Manage escalations (first level of escalation) presented by service providers, internal business partners and SRM team members ensuring appropriate resolution
  • Participates in projects in support of day-to-day operations between our service providers and Sun Life

What do you need to succeed?

  • 4 years of experience in a production-oriented team
  • 5 to 7 years of Leadership and People Management experience
  • Relationship management skills to interact with service providers and the internal business partners
  • Ability to utilize data and analytics including reporting capabilities to make necessary decisions for resourcing and change management
  • Organizational and analytical skills
  • Communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience with project management and business analysis

Preferred skills:

  • 5 years of experience with Supplier Relationship Management, Procurement, and/or Sourcing in a Management position.
  • CMA or accounting/financial/data analysis experience

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
