Job Summary

The Verification Manager is responsible for the Verification and Certification of ATC systems and software. The manager will have a team of testers to develop and perform adequate testing to ensure that quality products are being are being certified for deployment into Operations.

In addition, the manager is responsible for project management activities, and the management of human and financial resources.

In this role you will:

Verification and Certification

  • Plan the verification and certification activities for ATC systems and software releases in conjunction with management and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure test activities are in accordance with established processes and methodologies.
  • Monitor and deliver Test related analytics including KPIs and risk indicators, including assessing the effectiveness of the processes and tools.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor on test related matters.
  • Review resource capacity and financial forecast regularly and highlight any risks proactively.
  • Research and remain current on applicable Test best practices. Promote Test related learning, innovation, and exploration amongst the Verification team.
  • Prepare reviews and updates of key initiatives, such as Project Status Reports and Safety Plan updates.
  • Maintain effective and positive relationship with stakeholders and the Test Center of Excellence.

People Leadership & Management

  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and positive leadership of the Verification team to maintain a healthy and productive workplace
  • Work effectively and in a highly collaborative fashion with other teams in Technology
  • Delegate effectively and monitor progress to achieve expected results
  • Accountable and responsible for a team of professionals working through technical leads and specialists.  Responsibilities include:
    • Provide direct management for Verification resources
    • Direct the day-to-day activities by establishing the work unit’s strategies, business goals, performance indicators and objectives, priorities, work plans, milestone deliverables, financial and resource plans. 
    • Determine the on-going staff requirements and hire and/or promote subordinates in order to fulfill these needs. 
    • Conduct regular performance assessments of all staff and establish training strategies to target developmental needs. 
    • As necessary, confer discipline which involves all variety of scenarios from verbal to written warnings, suspensions or ultimately dismissal. 
  • Manage delegated portion of the AVP/Director’s budget by
    • determining financial requirements and administering their portion of the budget
    • monitoring and reporting activity against budgets/business plans and responding to variances as appropriate
    • determining business/financial efficiencies respecting the utilization of resources
    • commits corporate funds through the authority to negotiate, conclude and manage professional resources contracts

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or a combination of education (such as a Technology or Computer Science Certificate) and work experience.
  • ISTQB advanced certification is an asset
  • Knowledge of MS Project or other scheduling software.
  • 5-10 years of experience as in System Development and Testing
  • 2+ years of experience managing or leading people in a Technical environment
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the development and execution of test methodologies
  • Familiarity with the principles of software testing best practices, including test maturity frameworks, such as TMMi
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes
  • Familiarity with Test Automation Frameworks for system level testing.
