Job Summary:
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for managing and overseeing the logistics operations within an organization. This role involves coordinating the movement of goods, managing inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery to customers. The Logistics Supervisor develops and implements logistics strategies, monitors performance metrics, and identifies opportunities for process improvements. Key responsibilities include supervising logistics staff, negotiating with transportation providers, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Inventory Management
• Oversee the organization and tracking of inventory levels
• Monitor and analyze inventory reports
• Implement inventory control measures to minimize loss or damage
Shipping and Receiving
• Coordinate with carriers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods
• Inspect incoming shipments for quality and accuracy
• Manage the loading and unloading of trucks
Scheduling and Planning
• Create and maintain a schedule for incoming and outgoing shipments
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely delivery of materials
• Plan and optimize transportation routes for maximum efficiency
Documentation and Record Keeping
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all logistics activities
• Prepare and submit reports to upper management
• Ensure compliance with all legal and safety regulations
Cost Management
• Monitor and analyze logistics costs
• Identify areas for cost savings and implement cost saving measures
• Negotiate contracts with carriers and suppliers to secure favorable pricing.
Continuous Improvement
• Identify areas for improvement in logistics processes
• Implement new strategies and technologies to increase efficiency and reduce costs
• Conduct regular reviews and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of implemented changes.
Team Management:
• Understand team dynamics and effective management practices. Supervisors should be adept at balancing individual tasks with overseeing team performance.
• Conflict Resolution: Ability to address conflicts within the team professionally and constructively.
• Motivational Skills: Inspire and motivate team members to achieve their best.
Adaptability:
• Supervisors often encounter changing priorities and unexpected challenges. Being adaptable and flexible is crucial.
• Decision Making: Make informed decisions based on organizational goals and guidelines.

Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field with at least 4 years experience, with at least 1 year experience as a people manager or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
• In-depth understanding of inventory management principles and practices.
• Experience with developing and implementing inventory management policies and procedures.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in inventory management software and systems.

Salary range:
