Job Description

Our Affordable Housing team is hiring for a new Team Lead. Lead underwriting and closing efforts for both debt and equity client transactions, with a focus on owning the customer experience while balancing the Bank’s risk profile. Work with each Project Manager to balance delivery expectations, work product quality, preservation of profitability, and the client experience. 

This position manages customer relationships to negotiate, underwrite, approve, and close new equity investment and loan opportunities, primarily for the construction and development of affordable housing.  Manages workflow both individually and for a 2-3 person peer team.   Reviews due diligence standard with underwriting real estate transactions.  Works closely with internal teams (financial modeling and syndications) and engages third-party professionals (attorneys, construction inspectors) to coordinate drafting, collection, and review of documents and financial projections.

Leads team working with customers to solve problems quickly, including programmatic compliance or lending, tax and accounting considerations.  Has demonstrated ability to simplify complex investment and finance concepts and multifamily development projects by focusing on key issues, activities and goals, and identifying and acting upon a critical path. Coordinates internal stakeholders in preparing and funding initial closing funds and transitions closed assets to the Asset Management team for ongoing relationship management.  Ensures all investments and loans are underwritten and closed in compliance with USB Credit Policy, and all other internal and external regulatory requirements as first line

Basic Qualifications
- Typically Bachelor's degree and eight or more years of related experience
OR
- MBA/JD with five or more years of directly related experience

Preferred Skills/Experience
- Thorough understanding of tax credit investment management and knowledge of regulatory and company risk policies
- Strong knowledge of construction finance, legal documentation and requirements, real estate property management, and accounting
- General real estate development and/or property management background preferred
- Strong knowledge of LIHTC
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Location Expectations 
The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $126,820.00 - $149,200.00
