JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum Qualifications:

Medical Assistant Certification through a national credentialing body required, must be a High School Graduate/GED equivalent.  Requires successful interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families, physicians; and other health care team members.

Preferred Qualification:

 Minimum of one-year experience in a heath care environment preferred.  Formal training as a medical assistant preferred.

Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments, knowledge of computers, keyboard, e-mail programs and the use of web-based applications, basic understanding of rules, regulations and retrieval of insurance information. 

Essential Functions:  

  • Administers injections.

  • Completes vital signs and drug screens as well as submits billing.

  • Completes and coordinates specialty clinics.

  • Maintain linkage with pharmacies to facilitate refills or prior authorizations.

  • Works with internal staff to ensure continuity of care.

  • Triages medication and care related calls and coordinates physician or nurse involvement.

  • Stocks offices.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:  

This job operates in a professional office environment. Works in well-lighted areas.  Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours.  Is subject to frequent interruptions.  Is involved with patients, family members, personnel, visitors, etc., under all conditions/circumstances. Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, etc.  Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

Position Type, Expected Hours of Work and Travel:

This is a full-time position, and the expected work hours are 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday - 8:00-5:00 with one hour lunch.

Pay Range:

$15.00--$21.00
