Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct inspections, repairs, equipment overhauls, installations and preventative maintenance for all industrial machinery, mechanical equipment in a workshop and field environment
  • Perform tasks including rotating equipment alignment, troubleshooting (turbines, fans, blowers, bearings, seals, hydraulics, etc.), removing and replacing components on conveyors, rotary wet screens, pumps, gearboxes and sizers
  • Plan and estimate safe, efficient and cost-effective execution of jobs while minimizing the impact on operations and costs
  • Actively participate in post -failure analysis and root cause discussions and help to develop creative solutions
  • Ensure that our preventative maintenance guidelines are adhered to and maintain complete and accurate records

Minimum Requirements:

  • Three years of post-apprenticeship experience working in a maintenance area in a heavy industrial environment (e.g. mining, oil and gas, pulp and paper, petrochemical, etc)
  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Alberta Journeyperson Certificate Millwright or an Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Certificate Millwright
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Strong safety and environmental mindset, knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and environmental standards and guidelines
  • You continually seek greater knowledge about the systems, processes, and hazards in the workplace, in order to understand not just what you do but why you do it; a strong dedication to continuous improvement within safe work practices, procedures, and standards to ensure safe and reliable work execution

Location & other key details

  • You will work out of our Fort Hills Plant in Fort McMurray, Alberta
  • The shift schedule is a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation (12-hour shifts) Days/Nights
  • You will be on a Fly-In-Fly-Out Rotation from one of the approved hubs of Edmonton or Calgary or a Bus-In-Bus-Out of Fort McMurray.
