The Makowski Lab in the Department of Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics at Ohio State University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to investigate the mechanisms by which obesity, metabolism, microbiome, and the immune system regulate cancer progression and therapeutic response. Postdoctoral fellow must be an expert in cancer cell biology and tumor microenvironment, with experience in immunology and murine models. Candidate must be an expert communicator, highly organized, with excellent writing and grantsmanship skills. The successful candidate will contribute to multidisciplinary research focused on tumor immunology, immunometabolism, host–microbiome interactions, and translational cancer biology using cutting-edge metabolite, molecular, cellular, in vitro and in vivo approaches.
Required Qualifications
· Ph.D. in basic Biology, Cancer Biology, Zoology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
· Demonstrated experience with murine obesity models, immunology, and molecular biology techniques.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.
· The ability to learn quickly, work independently, and work well in a team is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
· Research experience in cancer biology, tumor immunology, immunometabolism, obesity-related cancer, metabolism, cardiovascular, microbiome research, or the tumor microenvironment.
· Experience with syngeneic or genetically engineered mouse models, flow cytometry, histology, immunohistochemistry, and advanced molecular biology techniques.
· Experience with metabolomics, lipidomics, or microbiome analyses is highly desirable.
· Experience with computational analysis of -omics datasets is a plus.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
